I have yet to buy my 1199. Was thinking of an r but would never use it to its ability. My dealer called me today offering me a new 2013 Tri for 3K off. I prefer the Tri over the S but would have never bought one due to the R being only 2 grand more, and I would add all the carbon bits.

I would like to hear others thoughts on this?

You can't go wrong either way. I saw a Tri driving up at our meeting point last weekend and couldn't stop drooling. Mind you, I do love my R :D

$3k off? So, $5k less than the R? For that price I would take the Tri unless you going to be using it more for a track bike than a street bike.

Take the Tricolore. I am not questioning anyone's bike choice, but to me the differences between the S and R are minimal. And yes, I rode both before I bought.

Titanium con rods and carbon fiber bit are nice, but they are essentially the same bike. The Tri is unique and will no longer be available. An extra 500 RPM is pretty weak.

At 2k difference the Tri is a questionable choice. But at 5k, to me it's a no brainer. Even if you add the headers for $1800 and some extra CF for another grand, you are still cheaper than the R and have a better looking bike. Performance is essentially identical.

Either way, you win because the 1199 is a great bike. But I would take the Tri.

Tri. But only a measly $3K off?
Maybe if its $3K off msrp and they WAIVE the freight and setup charges. Otherwise, thats not a deal at all.
My ex-dealer gave my buddy $2K off his a month after they came out. So $3 at the end of the model year? No thanks. Call me cheap, I'm just frugal.

Find a used tri on ebay for $20-$22.

Even if money wasn't the question, the R is just blah. The Tri on the other hand is so god damn beautiful I price out getting mine Tri'd out on a daily basis during my dreams. If I could walk into that Dealership and pay $24,995, plus tax, title, reg, I'd take it.
But $24,995, plus tax, title, reg, doc fees, freight, setup, I'd walk away. This bike isn't rare, not hard to find a place that will swing a better deal.

In summation: Tri. I was just too god damn cheap when I bought my white. I regret it every ....... day of my life (not getting white vs red) for not getting the Tri. Don't do what I did. Don't go full retard.

EDIT: We're talking a 2013 Tri right? Because if its an old 2012 leftover they definitely went full retard.

I do like the Tri and was going to offer 25K plus TL and ask them to through in a comfort seat.

Yes 2013!

See what kind of deal you can get on the R - never hurts to haggle. Worst-case scenario they say no. If they are taking $3K off the Tri they can take $2K at least off the R.

If you can afford the R, buy the R.

....!! $3K. I have been thinking about them, but it seems like you have to change everything,(thats not included) with them....brake lines, caliper cylinders, etc.

I have an R that I track only.....do you feel the difference? Or is it more of an ascetic add on?

Thanks.
