I recently saw one of our regular forum members post a picture of his R model with gold-colored Marchesini wheels - it looked incredible I thought. So much so, that I started wondering how my Tricolore might look with similar wheels. Has anyone seen this done? Are there any pictures out there? I have never been really big on the design of the S-style wheels, so I am thankful they are in black (they are less noticeable that way). The Marchesini's are a far more attractive design, and like I said, I sure liked the way that R model looked. Thanks in advance for the opinions and advise.

I saw pics somewhere either on google or here of a 1199s Tri with gold Marchesini..

It looks great but I still would take the BSTs for their looks and performance..

yes they do but i believe mr harmony is in love with the look of the gold wheels and not really looking for performance gains. if he wanted perfomance gains he would have only 4 options bst or magnesuim OZ, rotobox or the 10k galespeed which are the most incredible looking wheels ever for the 1199 (10k though). However none of them are gold

oz piega wheel is forged alum but gold or marchesini which he has commented on already.

OZ does make the Cattiva and Cattiva R forged Mags for the 1199 and they are available in Gold. This is a black version. It's basically the same design as their Piega forged aluminum wheels but ultralight forged magnesium. The Cattiva R version is so light it's meant for track only use.

Yes, to be clear, I am not so concerned with the gains from changing out the OEM wheels for a slightly lighter wheel, but in this case, form over function. This is rare for me. and if color were the only concern, I could repaint the OEM wheels. I just don't really care for the OEM design, and would rather replace them with a set of Marchesinis. The purpose of this post is to determine whether the Tricolore color scheme works with the gold wheels. Jeff, what is the cost of the OZ wheels (not R model wheel) in gold? I agree with Mark regarding the Galespeed wheels being the best looking wheel ever, but I sure am not going to part with $10K for a pair of wheels!! Thanks to everyone for their advise and comments.

the cattiva R are ONLY availble in black and are ONLY made from magnesium. They are 6 spoke wheels.

the cattiva are black or gold only mag 6 spokes

the piega are available in ONLY forged aluminum are 5 spoke and available in gold or black.
there is a piega r also black or gold

bottom line different wheels not the same and the cattiva r are NOT AVAILABLE IN GOLD.

the only way you can get a 6 spoke forged alumin wheel is if you get the checa replica and they are shadow chrome in color. those are available in forged alum or mag.

i dont know what models fit for what bike the website doesnt say

PS jeff is totally correct about the r version of the cattiva race only.

Motowheels has a pic of a 1098 in Tricolore-type paint scheme with gold OZ Piega wheels. Should give you an idea as to how well it would go together.

Personally I think that with a Tri paint scheme, the gold makes it too "busy". I think the gold would work much better on a red (or white) S/R/base where there isn't a lot of colors/shapes going on. But that's just my opinion.

Looking to do the exact same thing on my Tri as i LOVED the look on the R. Problem is they are $$$ (somthing like ~$3500) If you find them, LMK as i am looking too and will do the same

Thanks for the clarification. I meant that the design was very similar between the Cattiva (6-spoke Mag) and Piega (5-spoke aluminum). And if the OP wanted to Gold color with the maximum performance advantage then I would recommend the Cattiva in the gold option.

i didnt want to come off as a jerk on that post (sometimes i do but not this time lol) that wasnt an attack IMO the cattiva is way nicer than the piega. so looking so much different they arent really the same IMO. i think the 5 spoke is ugly yet the six looks spectacular. yes you are right about the gold max performance also. all i was stating was the cattiva is a nicer wheel with max performance in gold or black.

the problem really is the s wheels are hard to beat but if you dont like the design of them i understand that too .

for a measly 10k you can have this. you would be the envy of everyone.

Mark, those are amazing. They look so delicate, it is amazing they can withstand the forces required. Great looking wheel - as it should be for $10,000 per set. Thanks for the picture.
