Read through the wealth of Tuneboy threads here and found a reference to rev limit increase for the 1299.

I wrote Tuneboy and they confirmed it's possible using TuneEdit to increase the rev limit.

Does anyone have experience with raising the rev limit of the 1299S to for example 12000 rpm? Any reliability issues? Blown engine etc?

I have a Panigale 1299S running 15/41 sprocket setup. With the upgraded DTC EVO it's really easy to get hard on the gas and I'm running out of top speed. 12000 RPM rev limit in 6th gear would solve my problem.

I've safely done this on other bikes such as my Aprilia SXV550. Stock rev limit on that is also 11500 but mine runs 12500 no issue. Some even run 13000rpm. This is safe(ish) on the SXV550 because the street version came with the same cams as the VDB SXV550 race bike that had stock limit of 12500 rpm.

If anyone has such experience with the Panigale 1299 I would appreciate some insight.

Can't recall if anyone did this, but on the 1199R with its lighter flywheel and higher rev limits, the engine has ti rods and outlet valves.

Maybe wirth considering

Not a good idea. The R with its 1198 displacement revs to 12,000 in 1-5 and 12.500 in 6.
Turning up the rev limiter is a good way to cut the engine life in half or even less.

No to mention as the upper limit is reached the power curve has started to drop.

Yeah I looked into Carillo rods but wasn't looking for an engine rebuild just yet. Maybe this is for the future.

I'm OK with the engine life shortening. If someone said they've run say 300-500 rpm limit higher for 10K km and no issues, that would be good enough for me.

This can be fixed with airflow and mapping. With Aprilia at least, the engine can pull hard all the way to the higher revs even though on stock mapping it drops after 10k rpm. I guess enough people here can attest to the fact that Ducati's stock mapping sucks dog eggs and can be improved :D
