Tuneboy cruise control

Jim,
I have the cruise control and it works great and holds speed to within 1 kph. Even down hills it holds to within about 2-3 kph.

You turn it on it by holding the starter button for 3 seconds after you start the bike. The engine gives a little blip of revs to confirm it worked. Then you set it with the menu buttons on the left and the starter button on the right during cruise.

I thought at first I would not need it but for longer rides it is great. I have also fitted the extra toggle buttons but have not been able to get them to work as I only have a Macbook so cannot get in to activate them.

It will be nice when TB software can work on a Mac.

Thank you!

Oh, I also have the nudge buttons which are cool. There are other companies who make different style nudge buttons which I will be getting soon. TB ones are a bit cheapy looking.

I always engage the cruise control while at speed by holding the start button for 5 secs and the speed will hold then. Also then use the nudge buttons to (re)set, + speed, - speed. Cancel with a brake tap.

Heya Phl, just curious, what will the addition of RB achieve over Tuneboy on its own (or the other way around). Usually, it's an argument over which is better (and I don't want to get into that), but what deficiencies in Tuneboy and RB are you hoping to solve by combining the two . . .?

with the TB you can create your own map (need WB controllers and sensors) and then run it on your bike.

with all the different exhausts i try, it's better to see the before and after results with a flexible fueling solution like the rapidbike, which adapts to each riding situation .

if i wanted that i'd have to carry my laptop around with me with the tuneboy all the time.
the promised app integration from tuneboy never happened, which was one of my attractions to it.

so i just keep it, run the stock map with cruise control and let the RB do the important stuff properly.

by "flexible fueling solution" do you mean auto-tune?

also it is pretty straight forward loading maps or putting the cruise control with the TB.

If you guys want i can put together a short video example how it is done?

That would be helpful

Thanks Phl, I've read your post a half dozen times, but I'm still a bit confused (I can be daft sometimes). Are you saying that: a) TB doesn't have auto tune capability even if you have WB O2 sensors integrated, b) TB does have auto tune functionality when using WB O2 sensors but you need to have their module plugged into the bike and WiFi connected to your laptop for auto tune to work, or c) you just think the auto tune of RB does a better job than that of TB? Or have I missed the point entirely?

Hi Brad,

It is my understanding, with discussions with Emma from TB that extra nudge buttons can only be used if you buy the full CC and tuning package. Do you have the full package?
I only have the CC package, I felt it wasn't worth the extra money for tuning and buttons, when I only use the CC to go from Adelaide to Melbourne for the GP.

Yes that would be awesome. But even a short description. I don't find anything on his site that explains the process, or if you need a computer and if so, will an Apple work.

Thanks.

I will throw something up later today after i pick my bike up.

I use PC, so not sure whether it can be done using Apple, but i do remember reading there was a way to get it to work with mac i see if i can find the link

Hi Jock
Thanks yes have the full package
I just need to get into the software to click on a check box in the menu
Wayne forgot to select it when he installed the software when I had the dyno work done
Just need to borrow a PC to get into it
I only have a MacBook

You are right Sergio
They do look cheap
Let us know what you find
Thanks

Sergio,
Do you experience the bike slowing down and then a sudden surge in speed (where the TC cuts in) when engaging the CC?

On my bike it can be quite violent in surge, but it doesn't always happen.

I don't know if it is because the throttle position is moving when engaging the start button.
Any thoughts?

For a bike with stock exhaust and maps, would there be any real benefit to installing buying the tuning kit? or is that a waste of money until some mods are added?

Also, If I were to purchase the cruise control only kit, could I then add the tuning kit later as an add on? or would i need to purchase another $399 dollar product?

I think you would have get the tune software and I'm not sure how much of a PITA it would be. The tunes can make the stock exhaust run way better too. Helps the midrange a bit and in some people's opinion helps the low rpm twitchyness. I would get it all at once now or wait for a sale on their FB page :) !

I know this thread is old but I'm going to try anyway......

Any chance anyone on a base model 1299 has got the cruise control working with the nudge buttons?

I have this setup nad have been trying for a few months now and there is definatley something wrong. Buttons are fine (tested with meter) software says its enabled but it only activates on first ride then never again until I re flash the bike and it never sets a speed ever. Either with start or nudge buttons.

I know its a long shot but thought I'd try anyway, Thanks.
