Swing arm bolt recall what to look for

So I got my recall letter today, does anyone know what to look for yet to save me the 90 mile round trip, to be told 'nah your ones fine' ??

EFA.... I'm talking about the swing arm bolt.

There is some information on the North American "Swingarm recall" thread and (I think) on Andy1199's thread entitled "odd day on the Tric"

Got my recall letter today too, as did my dealer! They are expecting replacement parts next week but I don't know if I'll need mine doing either; I think it is only a tiny proportion of bikes actually affected.

Just come home to my recall letter in the UK.
Mines in for a service and was about to come home.
Think it can stay with them now until either fixed or cleared.
The weathers gone belly up again anyway so no loss for me at the minute.

Not a nice thought though that I've done 620 miles with a dodgy link bolt :(

Makes me wonder why it's taken so long for the UK letters.

I work with car recalls for a living and to be honest the notifications go out to the dealers all at once. Especially anything to do with suspension, brakes, fuel etc...

I wonder what happens from a legal point of view if somebody stacks a bike and gets hurt as a result of delayed recall letter ????

Which country gets their letter last ????

It is a bit worrying. I've done nearly 900 on mine...but I don't think there have been any actual failures reported (hope I'm right).

just got mine today as well , in dealers next week any way for new rubber 1,950 miles , will kill two birds with the same stone , not in the slightest bit worried , still riding it like i stole it ha , no other probs at all , rad guards on [evo tech ] awaiting Sprint Filter , ...... mint.

Ok guys to save you some time.

Also it is rumored that this recall is for the bike between N° 420 to 4048

Also note that some customers here in France have received the letter even if the bolt was correct

Anyway it's pretty easy to check yourself ;-)

That's great !! Thank you I'll go check, bit gutted clear blue skies seriously hot for the first time this year, came home early to ride get a letter saying my suspension might collapse, such is life !

Mines the correct one !! As you said an easy check......anyway nights young, laters............

Really appriciate your time in posting the info !! :)

Well Done Valen, thats exactly how my dealer explained it to me. If the bolt has knurling around it, its the wrong one.

I took my bike in for service and when I got home I found the letter, grrrrr. I did ask my dealer and he confirmed I already have the correct bolt. They told me to post the letter to them so they can fill it in and post it to Ducati for me.

The dealer still has to complete the recall claim to update VOSA
if you dont you will get another letter at some point

Is ok, was in totally the wrong place! You have to look thro from the right hand side of the bike thro the rear hugger.....?! And I believe mine too is the correct one... Phew

From the right side of your bike Look at the top of the swingarm where it attaches to the engine/frame. You'll see a turn buckle looking thing sticking out the top pointing forward. Looking at the pic valen attached it's that part in the right upper corner.

There's a cover with a hole in it, look thru the hole and you can see the bolt head.

Seriously I must be thick or something as I still can't locate which bloody bolt it is...!

Under the rear hugger (rear brake/right side) you will see a shiney metal carved section (rest of the swingarm is black), its inside there.

I've had no letter yet and mine is N° 777. Checked the bolt and it looks like the right one, as far as I can tell. Anyone else think this is a particularly feable bolt, even the correct one, to transfer all the load from the swingarm to the shock? I'm sure its OK, but common sense says it should be a humongous high tensile mega bolt.
