Hi All,
My understanding is that once an upmap has been used it can only be used again for that particular bike - is this correct? If so, doesn't it make buying a second hand one useless?

Thanks,
Ben

If it is used on a bike, it can only be sold and reused on another bike if it is removed/uninstalled from the original bike. It is nothing more than a key that unlocks your bikes preloaded maps programmed into your ecu.

Yup, I had my first up map key for the slip on's. I then put the full system on, which came with its own key. The dealer unloaded my key for the slip on's and went back to stock (unlocking the slip on up map key) and then loaded the full system up map key.

So now I have the unlocked up map key, for slip on Termi's, to sell to someone that buys just the mufflers by themselves.

Up map used up?

I was reading over some threads and read one that said the up map is only good to use once. That seems like ........ to me.

Having said that, I bought a used SSTK exhaust system which I'm finally getting around to installing and I have the up map, but now fear all the work will be for not if the up map won't work.

Can anyone out there shed light on this?

Thanks.

Try loading the map first, before finalizing the installation of the exhaust system.
That way at least you can make a plan which way to go forward, rather than worrying about it.

Your options are.
You continue with completing the exhaust installation with the correct installed map.
Or you don't go ahead with the install.
Or you finish the install, and source another mapping solution.

Let us know how you get on.

So the question is, when they unloaded the slip on map, did they have the key in the DDS (?) when they put it back to stock. If not, the key wouldn't know that it has been made available to another system. Of course, this is assuming that it can be reset.

This is the same as my Superchips controller. It has to reset the vehicle to stock before it can be unlocked to reprogram another vehicle. Superchips locks to the VIN.

The purpose for the upmap key is to unlock the pre loaded map in your ECU.
