So I'm looking for some feedback about using electronic aids at the track...

I came from riding bone stock 848 with 0 electronic aids, so you had to "feel" the bike and be careful both on braking and acceleration... as always smooth is fast.

Now that I'm comfortable on my 1199S I'm looking to push some of these electronic aids to the limit. Over the season using QS definitely shaved off a few seconds; GP converted QS shaved at least another 5 secs for me; ABS gives me the balls to brake a lot later than before.

The next thing I'm looking to exploit is the TC. I have it set at 3 in race mode and even though I know it's there I'm still shy to really get on the throttle out of the corner. How much do you guys push it out of the corner?

I may not be the best example, but I ride with TC set to 6 and hammer it. The trick I've found is if you're smooth (but very aggressive) with the throttle, it'll slip a little bit and catch itself. Usually I pin it until it slips and then sustain slightly and then WOT. You can go to 100% a lot quicker, but it still helps to be very smooth in the delivery.

that's a really tough question to answer I guess how often the TC light flashing for you, I have it on TC 3 or 2 and I notice the TC kicks in all the time and on occasions saves my ass but I'm also not ham fisted with it.

Also at that level you can leave darkies coming out of corners and while TC is lit up I don't think it's that intrusive the times I have really felt it is when it saved me from highsiding a couple of times.

sorry probably not a great answer to your question but I guess start getting the power on earlier with more tc and as you get used to it decrease it till you highside and then you know the TC limit. :)

Are you on slicks or DOT's?

If on slicks, I run ABS at 1, TC at 2, DWC at 2 on my 1299S. With DTC at 2, you can definitely slide the rear coming out of the corner, but that's my preferred style; just a small slide to let me know where I stand with available traction.

My bike is geared down -1 in front, so DWC2 requires me to be FLAT on the tank to use full power in 2nd and 3rd gear. DWC at 2 doesn't retard power that much and so gives great drive... DWC 3, I find, has a small effect on drive that i don;t like.

Best case, is experiment and keep track of what your lap times are with each change; you might be surprised.

When I'm on slicks i run TC1. When I'm on pirelli supercorsa SC or SP treaded tyres i run TC2.
I normally open throttle aggressively at 195hi on the exit and never have issues with grip. TC may light up here and there but it just takes care of things on its own. Probably best tc interruption on a bike ever.
Never felt it sliding at 2,but occasionally it would show very little bit at 1.
On the road i run TC3.

ABS i always run 2 in road and 1 in track. Even at 2 you can still stoppie.

EBC i run 2,or 3 on track when i feel like it.

Thanks for the input gents. As an amateur for now I just run Q3s... usually the TC will light up for me on exit after may be 3-4 laps (TC set at 3) with medium to hard acceleration out of the corner. But I have yet to experience the rear really stepping out on me, therefore I think I'm nowhere near the limit.

What I have noticed though that on more abrasive tracks, like Jennings I will spin the tire quite a bit even when I'm not hammering on the throttle on the exit. I will keep track of lap times, tire wear etc through out the season to find my limit. I'm thinking of trying out Dunlop DOTs next time around.
