I have two comments here that may be useful:
A front stand is a must both for wheel removal, cleaning and winter storage if applicable.
Even top of the line Pit-Bull stands will pay for themselves in two sets of tire changes as you don't have to bring the bike to your dealer and pay him to remove the wheels.
The pit-bull front comes in two versions: Hybrid Dual Lift which has the head lift attachment and one without.
Unless you intend to adjust or remove your forks you really don't need the head piece. You can also buy it later.

About the chain:
Chain lube topic is polarized between old school and new school.
Modern chains don't need lube for lubrication like the older chains as they have internal embedded grease. They only require a micro film of oil to prevent rust and keep the rubber seals moist and fresh. However, it requires frequent cleaning as it's the road grime that erodes the chain. A modern chain needs cleaning to last longer. Less lube is better than too much. In fact, the least the better. A fully greased chain will just invite road grime. Sand, dirt and road contaminant are the enemy #1 of a chain, not water. If you keep it clean, it will last a lot longer and your bike will stay cleaner longer as well.

Also, keep it simple and fast. Each night after you removed the bugs with a hot water shammy, clean the chain too. "Hand spin" a rag doused with a mild de-greaser such as Simple Green around your chain a few times, wipe it dry, repeat with a third rag that has some lube on it. I use motor oil. Save those three rags for the next day. It's only a two minute job and it will always look new.

Thanks! Great advice.

Thanks! Great advice.
You're very welcome.
That comes with a lot of experience and mistakes like being conned by the chain cleaner/ chain lube industry.
We don't need these fancy chain cleaners and lube. Plain old kerosene will do if you have a big dirty chain to start with.
Once cleaned regularly, a mild de-greased like Simple Green or similar does the job and you can use it everywhere there's grime and it smells good too.
Some use WD-40. that works too. As for lube, anything goes. Motor oil is what chain manufacturers recommend. If you don't have some, use whatever, just don't put too much.
Hell, steel your partner's KY jelly or Vaseline if you have to. Why should you care if you're out riding.

For some reason, Pit Bull, Revzilla and everywhere else I’ve looked has the stand out of stock. I’m only at about 700 miles and have the first service in a week so I don’t need them right away. Just weird nobody has them.

The covid thing has curtailed production and inventory. Just like over-priced houses that have no inventory because of forbearance.
Like you said. You really don't need stands for your first service. Be patient. It wont last.

Note as of about a month ago it looks like there is no front head stand solution from pit bull. Not enough space between the fairing and fender for the standard hybrid front lift.

best,
Dave

That's interesting. I'll look into that as I have one but haven't tried it on the Multi.
I originally used it on the Pani and Monster but I have no real need for it as I don't do any fork service myself.
Where does your info come from?

Sorry, I was referring to the V2, not Multistrada...if one looks at the pit bull site for the V2 it says there is no pin available yet. I bought the stand with the pin that fits other Ducati sportbikes - no joy because there is just not enough space even though the pin itself will fit in the headstock. So I took the pin back and swapped it, now the stand will work with our RC390 while I wait for some other solution for the V2.

best,
Dave

Anyone had any luck with the quad lock fork stem mount? The included accessories aren’t the right diameter so I’m using a toggle bolt method i found on YouTube but it frequently loosens inside the tube.

I successfully mounted the quadlock on my V2. It doesn't move at all. The trick is to use the two tension nuts set (the small AND the big) (I don't know the name in English) that comes with it ! you have to superimpose them and seal with the gasket around it and find a trick to pass it through the underside of the tube and mount it at the top (I succeeded with a home-made tool) .. then it's great, it doesn't move!

I wrapped the some electrical tape around the bottom locking nuts so they would stay in place while it tighten the bolt. This worked perfectly for me.

Wrap electrical tape around the bottom nuts so the stay in place. This will allow you to tighten the locking bolt without the mechanism collapsing. Give it a try and you'll see what I mean.
