V2 as a track bike

I'm thinking about changing from my 890 to a V2 for the track. I've invested thousands into the 899. Curious what you mean by the V2 is vastly superior to the 959?

V2 has way better electronics. Is smother (throttle). Have three track rat buddies who ride them exclusively and they all came from v4’s or older twins (1098) and I trust their feedback. I’ve not tracked a V2 personally though. The 959 def needs a tune though!

Yup, I'm running a full exhaust, tune, full ohlins, autoblipper (no slipper yet but haven't needed it even with aggressive down shifts). My V4 is waaay easier (and fun) to ride and so much smoother than the 899. I can't imagine the V2 is as silky smooth as the V4 but that's what I'm look for. I've heard the lack of frame on the Panigales is what disrupts the handling when compares to the V4.

Another vote here for the V2 as a track bike. I've got one and love it. No issues with reliability - it's been fautlless. Not really had to do much to it, though I did get carried away and bought clipons and rearsets, mainly because they look so nice, and the spares are cheaper than OEM. Though I might get a wrap for the track fairings and a tank cover next, and then possibly some suspension upgrades.

Have done a few of season of trackdays on it now, including just coming back from Estoril last week (what a circuit!).

@thekiwiguy your V2 look awesome. What is the black spacer you have attached to the back of the tank. Are you tall? Does that help you grip during braking? What's the deal?
Hey - it’s a Monkey Grip. I’m 6ft and find the v2 tank isn’t as confidence inspiring as others to hang off. Here in the US these are popular
