Weird I heard you can install it yourself, but just gotta goto dealer to get the ecu flashed? I will ask the dealer when bike arrives

Honestly, I didn't ask them if I could install it myself because I don't have the skills to work on a bike... I can take it apart but I won't be able to put it back together, however, I wanted to have my favorite performance shop do the job and they told me it will void my warranty but maybe it's just my dealer? They even try to give me crap because I didn't buy the exhaust from them so go figure....
I didn't have them do the job anyway because they wanted me to wait 12 days to do the first service which I thought it was ridiculous so I just went with a different authorize Ducati dealership near my house.

I had a dealer once tell me they wouldn't put on an akra because It would make the bike unable to run. They also were unable to install a new clutch slave cylinder....long story short....YouTube and service manuals ftw. Plus I have fun and learn a lot doing it myself
Wow that's crazy! I just don't feel comfortable going to my local shop that has never worked on a v4 yet.. none have arrived. And I feel it would take them a lot longer to install since it would be their first one :/. I either take it to official dealer which is 2hour ferry ride or do it myself. As long as I have the torque specs and service manual I will be set! If anyone comes across one let me know!

An exhaust will not void any warranty anywhere. They would have to prove whatever the problem that surfaces was the result of an aftermarket exhaust which the stealerships would have a hard time proving. That's nothing more than a scare tactic for someone to spend another $1000 on labor. There are so many illegal things dealers do, yet they try n threaten people with voided warranties lol what a joke. All the dealerships in california that have removed charcoal canisters would be in deep trouble if it came down to it. Same thing with installing a race only exhaust. Technically those are all not road legal things but dealerships will do it to get the labor cost, then turn around n threaten with warranty voided bs?
Best thing to do is take your sweet ass time, work on it a couple hours at a time n install it yourself. Have the upmap installed or not. May not be optimized for max power or whatever but the bike will run just fine without the upmap. Akras are specifically designed to run problem free on stock maps....at least they were on the 1x99's. I don't see the v4 being any different. Hell, I'm running the full termi upmap on mine with the full akras but was on the stock map for like a year before i purchased the termi upmap. Installed the exhaust myself in about 10 total hours without having removed anything besides the side fairings n nothing else. If I had a v4 with a full exhaust, I'd definitely try to install myself before i ever considered paying over $1000 in labor. Scratch that...$5k for the exhaust lol I had a hard enough time coughin up $3300 for mine a few years ago.

damn i thought i wrote that about the warranty. and the akra and upmaps. well done. also i had a dealer tell me i have to use a specific oil in my jetski or i will void the warranty. i said oh yea if you specify i have to use it guess what you have to supply it thats the law. how fast his story changed.
As I am travelling a lot through Germany, does anyone know if there are aftermarket exhausts that are actually road-legal?

not sure if you 're Belgian. you should be able to get away with a fine.
a german would get a point for being too loud on top of the fine and then another fine for not having catalytic converters.
google what some other european riders have to say. the stuff i found in german, applies predominantly to germans.
it only save ´s 1 kG.
#$&% legal. The only exhaust that belongs on that bike is what is currently on the WSBK prototypes. Everything else looks goofy. The Akra on the Aruba bikes looks great, sounds great, and is non intrusive. I don't care what it cost. Get it

It's fiddly but not beyond the realms of any owner as long as they have the right tools, time and patience. I am currently in the middle of a build project on my V4 and have stripped the bike down to the engine for custom work to the frame and swingarm. ATM I am trial fitting the prototype Samco cooling hose kit to the bike, before I put the airbox and throttle bodies back on, so don't be too apprehensive about tackling a few nuts, bolts and pipework.
