The V4R fairing kit is an (expensive) option for the 1100s. This fairing was apparently designed to increase air flow and thereby whip away engine heat by a significant amount better than standard. However have not heard any feedback how effective it is in practice. Hopefully this link will illustrate...

And did it work?I removed all the sound insulation from inside my fairings, removed the rear cylinder covers, and trimmed the charcoal canister bracket on the right side, all in order to move more air and optimize engine cooling.
I'm not finding it is a problem caused by the exhaust, I'm only finding it an issue against my left thigh which is next to the top of the engine / faring, ill just have to live with it, I'm loving the bike and have no other issues, I just posted to see if anyone had a work around for it as I'm new to the V4
