EPA limits the amount that can go into an oil with API ratings. Usually its between 800-1000 that's allowed.Will do. It should be next weekend or so when I get the results. Is there anything significant about that particular amount of zinc and phosphorous?
Typically you want higher ZDDP (Zinc & Phos) values as its the only additive in oils that provides true "Anti-Wear". Ideally between 1600-2200ppm .
It creates a glass like film on metal to metal contact under high heat and high pressure , Coating all metal parts. The Moly also helps reduce friction and the ester base oils clings to any metal parts. They all work together and you would ideally want an additive package that has all of the above .
If its government approved oil , it is not safer for your engine components compared to the above oils and is only "safer" for the "environment" , hence why they approve it with such low PPM , so it doesn't destroy cat converters.
