here's my final 300v sample - low miles of only 360 , can still see it sheers down from 17.5 to 16 in such little miles. also this change no additional ZDDP additive was added.

maxima 15w50 extra 4t is in and also awaiting the virgin results from that as well.

Got my first Speed Diagnostix sample bottles! Wanted to test the bulk 15w50 the dealer used 170-ish miles ago on the 2020 V4R I picked up with just under 1000 miles. Looked at the sight glass and no visible oil level :/

I don’t have the bulk 15W50 which is probably the Shell that I don’t want anyway, and think I’m supposed to take the oil sample when the oil is warm not cold right?

Guessing the right answer is add some red line 15W50 I have to get the proper oil level, ride the bike to warm it up and just dump this batch and take my first sample after getting some miles on the red line?

I really wanted to have a baseline of the oil and wear when I got the bike, but thinking it’s not worth the science experience at this moment.

Thoughts / suggestions?

dump the oil cold , you want to sample whats in that engine currently but not start it if you don't see the sightglass at correct level.

makes no sense to add fresh oil to used oil and take a sample to read data.

just sample what's in the bike send off to lab to get a baseline of what the engine is experiencing.

fill up with redline and sample another after some miles are put on.

remember drain for 3 hours minimum with the bike upright if you ever do a warm drop , cold drop can let it go until drips stop. . Fill with 2- 2.5 L start it for 1-2 mins , shut off and let it sit for another 2 hours and check oil with the bike level and top off. Usually it takes 3L on v4S , not sure about the R , especially if you have dry clutch.

Will do, thank you! Uggh, read the cold oil drain procedure and not excited about it 😂

yes , the oil warm or cold drain still its a long process , warmer oil drops even longer. I edited my comment above for what to do. its not hard just time consuming.

Cool, thank you I appreciate it. And yes it has a dry clutch, good call

I usually just take the plug and filter out and let it sit overnight. I like JAG's idea about turning the motor by hand to empty the oil pump and cooler lines. I think this is a good idea but you should then prime the system by turning it over by hand. Theres a significant amount of oil in the cooler lines etc, completely emptying them means you have to refill them before the crank gets oiled.
