I have a 2018 race bike with 1000 ks running in and 5000 race ks and not been touched ,not even had the top off
Oil gets changed every 2nd meeting , only problem has been gear selector sensor , other than that its been an awesome bike
Anyone had similar race ks and been inside ?

I've got about 4,500 miles on my V4R race bike. 650miles on the road to run in.
Only done oil changes.

The service intervals on the R are half the 1100s if your racing them according to the factory

Yep, I know what they are. According to the recommendations, I should've had a minor rebuild (£5k) and a full refresh (£6k) by now....

this comes up all he time, that is a legal safety net for the OEM. So that in case a bizarro world consumer laps 1 sec off baustista buys one and blows up the engine because he rode it on limit only.
The R engine does have race internals so the OEM will attach a specified race service disclaimer, a stocker R1 does not have this but a GYTR R1 does.

The most polarizing version of this in recent times is the BMW HP4 RACE which called out a new engine was needed after 3000ks...

Rick is the fastest guy on here and 4500 miles on a V4R with oils changes and keeping a close eye on the bike no issues

If you follow Ducati's race service intervals for the R, it'd be in the shop more than at the track haha. Timing chain, pistons, and con-rod bearing replacement every 1500 mi is nuts

Wow that's a good run, ours had done 4,000klm and we just put new engine in, we looked at the cost of a proper rebuild and it was better to purchase a new engine. They really are a very reliable engine from the looks of it considering they rev to 16k

What is the cost of a replacement R engine? Do you remember what the rebuild parts would have run?

The HP4 race is 5,000klm and BMW recommend rebuilding or replacement its actually covered under warranty for the 5,000klm

The rods we're $2000 each and from memory the valves were 800 each the you have pistons, bearing shells, gearbox bearings, water pump, timing chain etc .. it adds up fast.

Bruce I forget about you on here sometimes, you are running closest thing to an actual SBK bike on here so. I am not surprised you put a new engine in..

Is anyone routinely balancing and blueprinting these motors?

I don't know of any teams in Australia the two main race teams Here just replace engines at around 3,000klm they are already producing more HP than we can use on most tracks so the main focus is on electronic and chassis.

I wonder if the motor would last longer if it was blueprinted from new.

That $22K AUD is about $15K USD. I suppose for a factory built R engine that isn't terrible.
