I live right by the Angeles Crest and I ride to Newcombs Ranch sometimes during the week. I decided to buy something more upright, to go for longer trips to Ortega or Ojai.
After 2 weeks of intensive bike shopping and hours of YouTube videos and countless test rides, it's down to Mv Agusta Brutale/Dragster 800RR/RC (top choice) or 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS.

triumph is a very “no ........” bike, my 675 has handled 15k miles and 6 years alves were perfect at 12k and it has been flawless, literally 0 flaws, and I ride it like I stole it, especially now that I’ve got a couple thousand miles on the 1299

from my understanding, the 765 and newer Triumph models are even better.

I liked that 765cc engine, it's peppy, wants to rev and the bike with 365 pounds dry weight is a joy to ride. The only bad things, it's not sexy and seat to pegs is little shorter than the MV Agusta ( I'm 6 2 with long legs, I hate my knees to be cramped)
The MV is 800cc, same kind of revving nature, slightly more powerful and similar light weight. The only bad things, little bit less refined as far as throttle and quick shifter. Costs 50% more :)
Decisions decisions...
