Have a mate with a Lotus, he is the luggage vehicle, it gives him an excuse to be out of the house and away from the gremlins... I mean kids...

All in the name of safety... As for tack days and spa, get one of these... Heheheh

man... that's a set up!!! good for you.

Now that is an awesome set up!

better than a tank bag or tail pack, no risk of damage to paint or rubbing from straps etc, better for the handling and alot easier to manager luggage for a 5 day trip to nurburg and SPA... it can be taken of lol ! it's not permanent !

but i guess you have a much better system.?..I am all ears ..?

No offence intended, maybe I should have put a smiley face in there somewhere. IMO it does make the bike look fugly though!

As it happens I do have a better solution. Kreiga US20, both myself and a friend have used it on the back with no problems. The only thing to consider are the mounting points for the straps but it's not hard. I have the Ventureshield kit on the bike which protects the body work. Alternatively just duck tape the exposed bits for the duration of the trip.

I just had a Ventura rack installed on my 1199 for the Australia Day long weekend coming up.
It's very sturdy, made well and the pack I bought is excellent - a 31 litre semi hard case.
I've travelled with a Kriega US20 tail pack previously and although it worked well, I was unable to secure it properly without using bungee cords and pillion pegs.

Highly reccommended.

Two straps of the Kreiga US20 can be hard-mounted under the seat, allowing you to secure the front of the bag (on top of the seat or the seat cover) and the strap for the rear of the Kreiga can be looped under the lic plate holder. Tons of storage, water proof, easy to mount/dismount (30 sec) and when you've reached your destination you don't have some big ugly rack on the bike, nor do you have to screw with hardware. The only straps that stay attached to the bike fit easily under the seat cover.

It's also Coyote Proof!

Riding with a Rear Rack is the only way to go if you are touring the countryside for a weekend or more. Obviously, the Ducati tail bag is great for a day ride. For any longer than that, packing your set of wet weather gear is VERY good idea, so that's when the Ventura rack goes on. (No under seat storage room of course)

My Panigale is in the shop getting new rubber and will be back on Tuesday. I will mount up the new Ventura Rack and bag and take some photo's to post. (I'm heading away on Friday for a 4-day / 2500 kilometres twisty road adventure - did I mention glorious summer weather riding in the mountains?)

I'll post the VENTURA RACK pics with a SPOILER ALERT for those who can't stand the idea of a rack on a Panigale!

if you are going to tour the ventura rack is a great option and you can store a large amount of gear in one of their top boxes.

Sure it does not look great but you can remove it within a couple of minutes on a separate note i think it's great that people use their bikes for purposes they were not originally intended for.

I'm surprised to hear a few people have had problems mounting the Kreiga, I took mine away for a week with a US20, US10 on top of that and a Held tail pack clipped on behind, all mounted on the rear seat with no problems.

The rear seat itself is pretty weak, you can't just strap the US20 to it. I used the loops that come with the pack and mounted them to the bike under the rear seat, 2 where the grab handle is and 2 off the rear bolts that hold the fairing on. It's completely secure and the bag doesn't move at all. I also have the tank adaptor and have mounted a US20 on that with no problems.

I'm away at the moment, I'll post pictures when I'm back.

I'm not denying it's not possible to mount it correctly - I just lack the dedication and vision to hone it in haha
I had a problem where tightening the bag up too tight ended up lifting the rear seat up because it contorted and then a bolt in the subframe came loose. Also the thing moves around a bit and tends to get in the way of your rear end so you can't go full tuck at high speed.

I tour a few times a year, I can deal with spending maybe 30 minutes a year getting the rack sorted. No worries about paint being rubbed or what not.

Not saying one is better than the other. It's like apples and oranges.

I have the ventura rack mounted with the rallye pack attached..whole lot took 10mins to bolt to the bike.....not very pretty but very practical...got 200 miles to go to base camp for the weekend...will post up a pic of the set up tomorrow morning before I leave to give folks a heads up on what it looks like loaded up with a pack on. I didn't buy the grab rail as I intend taking the rails off once I get to base camp...only a 10 min job!!

Pics please!

Love to see it in the stages of being attached and removed.

I had gear rack fitted to the 996 for longer trips but the main bars remained attached below the rear cowl even after removing the rack and bag. Just ugly, very practical just ugly!

LMAO pifff Coyotes sure but what about ill tempered ground hogs?

6 days away at Easter

I did 6 days away covering 2000 miles with this on the back. I still did 160mph in Germany and enjoyed touring on the bike. Just waiting for my next 4 days away In may and I'm getting the Ventura system. I've had pack racks on all of my bikes as I'm from New Zealand and love long trips away with the most comfort. I'm not looking at my bike when I'm on it! Pack racks come off really easy too.

I had a setup very similar to AntiHero's on my 1098. The Kriega US20 straps are screwed into the underside of the removable pillion seat cover. Secure and quick to remove and mount. For a longer trip, two US10s are strapped to the sides of the US20. Only point of contact with the bike is the pillion seat cover.

The BagsConnection tank bag was also great, but I don't think I will fit one to my 1199.

In a bit of a rush so here's some pics. Will try and put more up later.

That does look the most pratical for a big heavy load. Does it rest on the pinion seat, and just the 2 screws to the pinion mounting holes? What tires are those?

And while we're on the topic of bags:

I may also take another look at the Kreiga fitting seeing as I have a US20 and 10.
