Ventura rack !

To include another option, how about the Rice Rocket Rack system versus the Ventura Rack system for the Panigale? Anyone used the Rice Rocket Rack?

The tyres are Michelin PR3's with a 190/55 rear. no complaints so far. Had DTC at 4 before. Set it to 2 now and the michelins seem happy with that.
Ventura luggage is the dogs bollox. 4 bolts that the pillion pegs use. Fitted the pillion seat as the rack will hit it and scratch the cowl.
Never seen the rice rocket rack.

I had a setup very similar to AntiHero's on my 1098. The Kriega US20 straps are screwed into the underside of the removable pillion seat cover. Secure and quick to remove and mount. For a longer trip, two US10s are strapped to the sides of the US20. Only point of contact with the bike is the pillion seat cover.

The BagsConnection tank bag was also great, but I don't think I will fit one to my 1199.

And while we're on the topic of bags:

I may also take another look at the Kreiga fitting seeing as I have a US20 and 10.

Al.

Yeah I would like to see the 20 and 10s on the pani together to see how it fits as the tail is much narrower than that of a 1098/1198

Here's a shot of how the US20 straps are secured to the pillion seat cover. One stap is held under the existing bolts towards the front of the cover (wide end). Two additional screws with washers secure the rear strap (narrow end). I stole this idea from something I saw on another forum a few years back.

I don't think this looks all that bad. If I have to put luggage on my ride, to me its understood the bike won't be looking as cool as without luggage regardless. That being said, I'll sacrifice looks for the higher probability for unblemished paint afterwards and less interference from said additions and more stability along the way.

Me likey that rear tyre!

... and people complain about the new heat shield??:p
Thats totally practical and completely ugly lol... anyway..What tyre are you running there??? I don't recognise it....

He states which tyres they are at top of page 3.

I put a Ventura rack on my 1199R. I know it spoils the lines, etc., etc. But it makes the commute to work much less hassle. It wasn't immediately obviously how to fit it to the mounting points after having installed the Termi exhaust system, but a couple of spacers move the heatshield out far enough to make it work.

My daughter also now loves the new pillion seat. Safety note: Always use a rear-facing seat with the younger ones.

Mifune: 10 for originality
10 for side-splitting humor
10 for topping everyone else's racks

Final result? Judges declare Mifune the...

WINNER!!!

Mifune do you have any close up pics of where the L brackets are bolted to near the heat shield? Was thinking about ordering the same rack for my 1199R but was wondering how much of a hassle it would be to adjust the heat shield.

Nice touch with the car seat by the way.

better than a tank bag or tail pack, no risk of damage to paint or rubbing from straps etc, better for the handling and alot easier to manager luggage for a 5 day trip to nurburg and SPA... it can be taken of lol ! it's not permanent !

but i guess you have a much better system.?..I am all ears ..?

I'm guessing he's never used one. I have used Ventura's system on a 748, 998 and a 999, on long European tours. Excellent product and as you say, negates you lashing a bag to your bike and risking damage it or the paintwork, or having to strap a rucksack on your back. Never had an issue with the handling, even with my wife as pillion on a long trip through France and Italy on the 999S. It was great not having to be burdened with either of us having to carry any luggage. We easily managed to shoehorn in almost everything we needed, into the one tail bag. Also like the fact you can remove the baggage rack and just leave the rails on, when you are out for the day on a tour. Whenever I got back home from a trip, I just unbolted the whole assembly, including the rails from the bike and voila.

Here are some photos of how I got the Ventura rack to fit with the Termi heatshield. At first it looked like it wasn't going to work, but in the end a couple of washers did the trick.
