Watch out Ducati 1199, Aprilia is upgrading

Interesting.

I expect Ducati to still win in the design department.

Instead of more horsepower, I wish they would continue to find ways to make the bikes lighter. I prefer power to weight ratio IMHO.

Aprilia will most likely stick to the traditional frame. It will be interesting to see how it plays out for sure. Don't get me wrong the Ducati is beautiful. I still want to ride one for myself. I just hope they don't get any smaller
 
So that bike will be for the 2014 season. Yawn, that's 2 years away. I certainly hope the competition does something in 2 years. The 1199R will most likely be out next year.
 
that is exciting, as i am also a big fan of the RSV4, love everything about it. but to be honest, i would be much more interested in the upcoming "799" or a baby RSV4, i agree with Duc on the power to weight ratio, if they can make these babies under 400lbs wet, when i would trade in the 1199 in a heart beat.
 
Good if Aprilia can keep Ducati honest.

Will keep SBK interesting :D

Personally, I wouldn't buy another. If I wanted to make friends with lots of service and parts guys, I would have been a mechanic :p

Like DORNA for MotoGP, FIM run the the WSBK, super sport and superstock 1000 race series, to name a few.

At the moment, Ducati will not run the 1199 in WSBK till the 2013 season. They have opted to keep Checa on the 1198 (1098r) while competing the 1199 in the superstock 1000 and some national level superbike series. I'm sure there are many factors to why Ducati is taking the route (Rossi and Burgess's salary?), but one will be all the additional development data and time they'll get to tune the WSBK version, without the cost of running a fully supported factory team in WSBK.

It may be a calculated risk, as I know some will criticise Ducati for doiing this, but as Del Torchio has said, Ducati is not in a race series to participate, they are in it to win.
 
I think they are pretty smart to debut in superstock, as said it gives Ducati an extra year to develop the bike for WSBK while hopefully winning in superstock.. it will be interesting to see how the 1199 compares to the BMW's in superstock, and to the Aprilia's in WSBK in 2013. If the 1199 is really successful in racing I wonder how long before we see other manufacturers take the frameless route for their next gen bikes?

Let's see how the new RSV4 fairs out, not a fan of Aprilia or the bike at all. My experience with Aprilia and the RSV4 is beyond being stupid. Will never deal with them again.
