Good evening all

on my quest for ultra minimalist waterproofs… May I ask a few questions.

Do people tend to wear jacket and trousers or jacket only?
How small / compact are your waterproofs?
Has anyone waterproofed their leathers? Not even sure if that is possible… but worth an ask.

thanks

I found some make for bicycling I used to use. Really fitting and tight so they don't catch the wind too badly.
I don't have any now, but I see they are pretty standard here near the Alps as the sky can go from blue to dumping buckets in an hour. Full sets.
I this kind of rain, you have full protection head to toes or you're going to get soaked to your nickers. It's possible to waterproofed leathers, which is usually protecting the leather not keeping you dry. But a little silicone... no it would be miserable I think. Just get some tight covers.

Thanks… yes looking for something light small and compact… have some dainese but it’s like riding with a sail boat :)

Don't forget the saddle bags, phone mount and grip warmers a must have combination.

You have lost me Mick…. It sure if you are taking the Michael or if you are serious :)

You are better off looking at something decent like Klim adventure gear and proper wet weather gloves and boots if youre riding in places where its going to rain heavily, otherwise for light showers non perforated leathers that have had snowseal or nixwax treatment. You are riding a sportsbike, so rain riding is usually avoided! Otherwise any kind of wet weather clothing that you could carry on the bike is going to be bulky. I have gone for rides where I have suffered for a 100ks of heavy rain in leathers, you get damp!

Yes it’s a little tour to Germany so rather take something just in case.
Leathers (jacket) are perforated. But might look at a cycling top… bottom tend to be ok unless it lashes down.

Get good gloves, you can handle a bit of wet elsewhere but with windchill your hands can really suffer

thanks… agree…. Have some Rukka gloves that are excellent

My riding jacket has a zip in liner hat could be replaced with something water resistant.

I don't mind getting soaked as long as my feet stay dry. My last oak splinter came out like a zit after having my hands soaked for 6-7 hours.

I went with Dainese Racing 3 D-Dry jacket and then have Gore lightweight waterproof shell pants (GORE® WEAR) that can go over my jeans. They’re so compact that I just keep them in my backpack all the time. It’s not a 100% waterproof setup but good enough. I also wish the shell pants didn’t creep up and expose the tops of my boots.
