I got an education but still joined as I felt that was the least I could do for my country that enables me to make the choices to screw up my life as I please.

Least you could do for your country? That's hilarious and at the same time such a ridiculous way of thinking. Nobody owes any country ...., specifically in the form of serving in the military. If someone wants to willingly, I don't see a problem with that and appreciate and respect their decision to do so but you make it sound as if it's some kind of obligation or something. Noooo thanks.

He never said everyone should do it. He said he felt like it was the least he could do.

Way to belittle a guy for his opinion and wanting to give back. People stepping up are why it's not an obligation.

@double0, spoken like a true California liberal. No idea what or why it takes to serve. Be happy you dont have to type your replies with an Umlaut.

@Rogue, I know that rooftop :)

NOLA

@NOLA, It's a very well known building in the AO. $1000 if you can name it...

First, thank you to all who have served and who continue to do so. The service is what you make it and it serves pretty well those who seek opportunity. Look at the number of female aviators there are and equally impressive the number of fleet rank female Naval officers. I received my BS in Aerospace Engineering before I went in and had a commercial FAA ticket as well so Naval Aviation was pretty much a sure bet. The experiences and opportunities have proven to be priceless. With regard to generation gaps and educational curves, I look at 21 year old Air Corp captains leading squadrons of bombers over Europe with very little in the way of navigation aids or defensive abilities. Today we're lucky to get a 21 year old to change a tire without a YouTube video and three friends to help. It ain't what it used to be folks. Hopefully this is as ignorant as it gets before there is some intervention strategy or we're in real trouble.

I dont think an active duty member want to hear the reason why you dint join or your personal believe on our military forces, we still got a job to do, we really don't care if you appreciated our service but do your self a favor and don't compare us with ....... basketball player :mad:.

@Nola I'm going to say close but no cigar. That rooftop was the Shamshad TV HQ. I was on an advance team for an Ambo visit. You clearly know the area though. PM an address and I'll send some Panigale related carbon fiber goodies when I get back stateside.

@Rogue

Nooooo way dude. I totally called that one ! haha....I have been in there and climbed in the disgusting plane, on the right with the steps, as soon as you drive in. I took contact right near there, one block over and one block closer to Soccer circle (BW).

Stay safe.

We come from different backgrounds. Where I was born you went and served two years right after school.
Here in America we are free to to choose whether we want to give back for our freedoms.
Your attitude might be different if you had been born elsewhere where you didn't have all these freedoms.

Very nice of you to assume that I'm from here.

I'm actually Turkish. Born in Istanbul and lived there til i was 10. I'm 37 now. I haven't visited my birth city in 20 years because of the exact reason you mentioned. Obligated to serve 2 years as do most middle eastern countries citizens do. I'm a U.S. citizen but I'm not a fan of the military, the existence of weapons (law enforcement or military). I'm not for anything that involves weapons or military. Like Leon, I couldn't take orders from some ...... tryin to break you down just to build you back up and in Turkey, there's no rules about physical abuse either. They'll beat the .... outta you n there's nothin you can do about it. I've heard enough stories from my pops who served as well as a couple of local friends (1 ex marine and 1 navy) who wouldn't advise enlisting. I'll be a libtard or whatever else someone wants to call me. Doesn't matter at all. All that said, I wouldn't risk dying for any country....even if deployment was guaranteed to never happen in my lifetime. I'm simply not pro-military....regardless of the country I live in.

With all that being said, why dont you just keep your mouth shut and not make comment about the Military then ? Pretty simple. Stick to motorcycles.

P.S. you are PERFECT for California.
