Very nice of you to assume that I'm from here.

I'm actually Turkish. Born in Istanbul and lived there til i was 10. I'm 37 now. I haven't visited my birth city in 20 years because of the exact reason you mentioned. Obligated to serve 2 years as do most middle eastern countries citizens do. I'm a U.S. citizen but I'm not a fan of the military, the existence of weapons (law enforcement or military). I'm not for anything that involves weapons or military. Like Leon, I couldn't take orders from some ...... tryin to break you down just to build you back up and in Turkey, there's no rules about physical abuse either. They'll beat the .... outta you n there's nothin you can do about it. I've heard enough stories from my pops who served as well as a couple of local friends (1 ex marine and 1 navy) who wouldn't advise enlisting. I'll be a libtard or whatever else someone wants to call me. Doesn't matter at all. All that said, I wouldn't risk dying for any country....even if deployment was guaranteed to never happen in my lifetime. I'm simply not pro-military....regardless of the country I live in.
I guess you din't read the fines print when you became naturalizer? allow me refresh you memory sir:rolleyes:
I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.[2]

Because it's a forum. You don't like it? Go into your user cp and make the necessary changes. Damn right.....
L.A. is perfect for me.

i understand your view and your opinion but you did make comment when you didnt have to. YES it is a forum but we could still respect each other no? I mean some people's view that is opposite from you.

Some people lost friends, family and husband/wife from war (without discussion of right or wrong) so it can be sensitive. If anyone cant respect that then I lose all respect for them as well.

Trouble is with the UK we don't even come close to holding our armed forces in such high regard as the US or even the fire and police services for that matter, especially for what they do and endure.

I applied for the RAF when I was younger but got declined, no reason given, I always thought I never made the grade. That was 20 years ago, never looked back but it was something I always wished I had done. According to my father he had trouble getting into the armed forces also as we have Polish heratage?

I have a Polish name but I am third generation British, so at least I didn't arrive in a boat or the back of a lorry, but I still wanted to serve. Long story short: My great, great grandfather was a Polish refugee in the war, moved with his family over to the states and settled in Chicago. My great grandfather was raised there and was allowed to serve in the US airforce. He and his wife had quite a large family including my grandfather who also served in the US airforce. It wasn't until the second world war my grandfather was posted on an airfield in England where he met my grandmother, we've been here ever since and the rest they say is history. We still have a lot of relatives in Chicago and despite it's foibles social media has allowed us all to reconnect.

So despite what you thought Endodoc, I never meant any disrespect to those men and women who payed the ultimate price so that we don't have to........

Yet you came here and self admittedly won't go back to your home country. I have no problem with this. But speak ill against someone who fights for your right to be here and we have issues.

How someone who has reaped the benefits of this country as much as you can still be ungrateful is beyond me.

I have to recited this 4 times in my military career, and every time I need to do it I get the bigger goose-bone , I look at my wife she look so proud of me and just feel bad for her because my other family it taking me for another 4 years, 6 more to go and I enjoy every ....... second.

I lived in Japan for 3 years and I enjoy the culture, food, and people. So organized, friendly, and well mannered.

Buy you know they weren't like that always (at least people who were in power during WWII). Because what Japanese did in WWII, they are still hated by Koreans, China, Philippines, and south east Asia... even today.

What is war good for? Well... that's another discussion but bottom line is I think we are born to fight each other because we are human beings... sadly. Lol

Mutt. No worries man. I didn't get that from you at all. Its all good. Thanks for sharing the story

I'm only sparring with you, just banter. I do take the p*ss out of people a bit, I know, can't help it sometimes. But there's no malice in it I assure you.

You are still sorting me those pictures though right?....... ;)

If one of the reasons you got knocked back was polish heritage, that would be disgraceful. Considering what 130 odd of them did in the Battle of Britain and more afterwards. Although we are going down the tubes so you ain't missed much!

The latest cool comments towards U.K. Military now especially on social media is all the leftie Luvvies is that we are all child killers, muderers and rapists. I think they have spent too much time watching protest footage of Vietnam. Because I certainly missed out on the above in Iraq and Afghan. I know a female colleague has been spat on in uniform by a bloke

Your defiantly totally British now Mutt. taking the piss out of something when there is some serious/patriotic/sentimental/etc side to a story. It's what we do! People just forget we are a bit mad.
