We took an idea and ran with it, what do you think?

We didn't claim this was an original of ours, we state we took an idea, Milanno's, which is a photoshop and ran with it....... Did you not read that?

What I DIDN'T read was any reference or credit to Milanno. After you got called on it by several members, you then say it was photoshop but you took it a "step further". And what I DID read was, "WE call it the Tricolore Nero". And now I'm reading a post backtracking defensively as if you've given the appropriate credit to Milanno from the get-go.

You clearly posted up pics of the bike to seek praise for the design and paint scheme and to sell the bike to to the forum community and you didn't mention Milanno once in your OP. All I said was that seemed disingenuous, fair criticism no?

Just trying to see the best, if you take the context of Xbox saying:

Is that Milanno's design?

Then AK's first response, which could have been directed to Xbox, as his was nearly the first comment they would have seen:

Yeah, you have seen photoshops of the idea, we went one step beyond and brought the bike to life. We would do a full ceramic pipe, including the ti cans for a complete black-out......

We took a red S and had it painted. We didn't use a Tricolore, we created a Tricolore Nero. It wasn't an original idea, but the best form of flattery is imitation, no?

Then it looks fine I think...

No, so chill. Actually we posted up the bike to sell it. Milanno needs no credit, everyone on any Ducati forums who has interest in an 1199 has seen his renders and know his work.

Or a simple "Thanks, Milanno" would've sufficed.

As you see, not a single mention of the actual designer. Look, it's not a huge deal to me either way, I just believe you give credit where credit is due, actual credit - maybe that's old-fashioned and out of style these days.

And no offense, but it's not groundbreaking to paint all the red parts black. There's some pretty innovative stuff happening with 1199 owners here such as the stuff Connecticut Cycle Refinishing has done.

I agree.

Gotta get up the guys nose when people don't even acknowledge where the design or inspiration came from.

We are mostly enthusiasts here, without any commercial skin in the game, unlike the OP that is selling.

Couple of friendly nudges, while appreciating the finished article, but unfortunately nothing was forthcoming

Seriously? Give credit to the designer? OK, let's do that. Who's the guy at Ducati that came up with the original tri color scheme, cuz all this is is that in black with a couple extra things. Let's not act like this guy re-designed the wheel.

Couple of considerations:

1) Milanno produces his renders and happily distributes them in high-res, for everyone to enjoy, in whatever form they choose.

2) He will happily knock up custom work, if you ask him nicely.

3) He does not charge or seek financial remuneration for these renders.

4) He simply asks that his work is not passed on without mention him, or passed of as someone else's creation.

OK, so you can say its just a black Tri, but I certainly could not have created the visuals, so will always happily thank him for his efforts.

It IS just a black Tri, so asking for "credit" for making a pretty picture is a bit presumptuous, but whatever. What I don't get is why everyone jumps down AKKutz's throat for actually MAKING a bike that looks like another member's pretty picture. The title of the thread starts with "We took an idea and ran with it". He even said it was someone else's basic idea but NOOOO that wasn't enough either.

Maybe everyone who thought an 1199 would look good in white should ask Ducati to credit them with this "design idea" too. Even better, let's give credit for the design to all those who came up with renderings of the 1199 before it was released.

Why does this place always have to be judgemental and ........?

Reminds me of another guy on here who just loved to keep picking at the scab until it bled. Gotta let things go and stay focused. Personally, I dont like the paintjob and wouldnt want it on my bike, but some love it - obviously OP of this thread.

I have no dog in this fight and know nothing about trademarks or copyrights. I guess just putting that "thank you" out there in the beginning would have alleviated three pages of people going at each other, but that point is past and time to move on.

For those who like this scheme enough im sure I can get my fruend Sean at CCR to draw up some sort of rough quote on it should this bike sell for that high figure. When it comes to customizing a paint job on a sweet bike like ours there are many other ways to look as well. Errr.

Me? Nah, I have 24 posts in 9 months. Mostly I ignore the BS on here and concentrate on the good info I can find. But there's only so much sanctimonious, holier-than-thou finger pointing I can put up with.

I bought my 1199 from AK and you couldn't find a nicer, more helpful, more honest dealership to work with. From sales to service to parts they're all great people.

I guess for some minds, this is just too finer a point.

Last attempt, but with pictures this time:

1) I have found, on several occasions, pictures that I have taken and posted on the internet, used by others. On one occasion, used on a motorcycle dealers accessories page to sell a product I had bought elsewhere and installed. I felt a little ripped-off, since these guys never ask me, just "stole" my picture for their own commercial use.

2) Now onto the Tri Nero.....

Milanno has taken this Nick guys red Tricolore pic and altered it a very skilful way to become his Nero version. Now, see how Milanno has referenced the guy that took the pic and owns the bike.

This is a form of artistic respect.

There is nothing sanctimonious about this.

Now he could have said "look at this pic that I took one step further", but no, he acknowledges the guy that took the pic.

Yes, its just a pic of what was a red Tricolore. Yes, lots of similar pics around, but this was Nicks pic that Milanno used, which was taken with skill, time and effort.

What came first the chicken or the egg?

Milanno, published his Renders, he was the first to publish them does that mean he was the first to think how cool it would be to see the red black? Maybe, maybe not.

This bike is painted, and out painter must have found Milanno's renders, cause we didn't want a black number plate on the front. But, there it is......

So, let's give thanks to Milanno and move on....

Sorry I didn't do this in the first post, I was not expecting this reaction......

The paint is fine, care to do anything w/that hacked rear fender? The rest looks so good.

Sonic:rolleyes:
