So this past Sunday I decided to take a brisk romp through the mountains and after about 200 miles I go home and notice this Bitch! Something must of hit me and tore the red tape and of course the plastic underneath being white......so my front cowl is scarred. Any suggestions short of replacing the fairing. I've already ordered a paint pen to try and conceal the damage.

touch it up and move on. There's no functional damage and over the course of ownership that is the least of your concerns regarding the wearing of parts. In fact the fairings won't rust so you don't even need to touch it up if you don't want to. Looks like you got plenty of swirl marks already so to look like its been scrub washed at least 10 times, so no worries, unless you were intending it for display as a showroom new bike. JMO

Dude, take your time when you fill it in.

Do not use the applicator that it comes with.

Ideally, try and drop the colour into the holes with a blunted cocktail stick.

Do not overpaint the area.

Build a few layers, once fully dried.

Do not rush it.

As above mentioned....it will happen eventually. I've put 3m film on my usually first thing and I dont worry about things like this. Even if did damage through the film, oh well...it will happen eventually.

Is there a factory color paint pen available ? (I got 1 scar and was gong to fix it before I applied film -now I have 3 scars !)

I ordered a touch up pen from Colorrite. I've had great success with other colors. I didn't know how it would look since it's tape but I'm gonna try.

my buddy owns a body shop. he copied the paint and gave it to me in a bottle with a brush like nail polish. works great.

Maybe there are 2 types of 1199 riders.....Guys who actually ride and Starbuctisti???

Touch-up paint? If you want some crappy job go right ahead. I wouldn't settle for anything but a new fairing, it will look like .... otherwise and stare at you every time you look at it.

Not necessarily true.

I made this vanish with some skilfully applied lacquer :)
