Pretty sure I’m gunna get that Suter MMX500 as a kind of halo bike.

but here I have another question.

I looking at getting a relatively cheap light medium powered bike with great handling as a kind of learner track only bike.

something that handles or that I can make handle really well, that I’ll give no ..... about crashing, and that still has enough power to haul my 250 pounds around abs be satisfying. Doesn’t need a lot of power, don’t want that on this bike, but enough.

Mostly I want to be able to push and expand my limits and skill on all the cornering stuff, have some fun while doing it, be an easy bike to learn on, and low enough cost and provenance that I won’t care about laying it down at the track.

let’s say a $20-$25k buddy or less including mods.

what bike would you get, and what would you do to it?

not looking for an ultimate track weapon here, looking for light, fast, nice handling, and disposable.

Go find a set up R6 for 6-8k.
You can get full built for those prices.
You can get a Team Hammer race bike for 12-15 and we are talking Moto America set up's.
If not i can sell you my 15R for 40k

I would say based on your previous post to have a new R6 built. You do not seem to be the type of guy that buys old race bikes. You could pick up a new R6 and have it built to your liking for under $25K (Bryce Prince -BPR Tuning in Bakersfield)

Actually for this bike I’d love to find one already kitted for the track with brakes etc, where ideally all I’d have to do is change the springs and get the suspension and geometry right for me.

My cousin has a GSXR 750 that is conveniently located at my house in San Diego that is fully kitted out and was used as a racing machine for a bit. It isn't the prettiest bike in the world but it is in great mechanical shape and set up for a 220-230lb rider. He is willing to part with it.
