How do we know it was actually his? Could've been taking a test ride which imo, would suck even worse.

No thanks I've been scolded and shamed...Can't Doit...:(

Ok maybe a little...

I think that guy needed a custom pair of man-makers

I think you should have a lifetime exemption to :doit.

I was in downtown Annapolis one evening after a ride with friends. As we sat there a guy on a Harley rode by, but he was very sketchy with bad throttle control and seemed to be on the verge of falling over. His body language showed he was a very new rider. So he went by up the main street and left. The next day I read that a motorcyclist was killed on the way out of town on West Street when he lost control and hit a car. Pretty sure it was the sketchy guy I saw that night. It happens.

Yes , he Certainly was INEXPERIENCED , post about Harley rider points out there are many unexperienced riders out there young & old on the wrong bikes . Mandatory testing when going for license and testing every few years to keep should be initiated .Because of my age I know my spurs are gonna be hung up sooner than I want , BUT ! SAFETY , has always come first .
One Reviewer called the 1299 an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile on wheels yet kids are getting them for their birthdays .
Here in British Columbia we used to have very STRICT rules to what you could ride with VERIFIED accreditation . Nowadays ,nuthin !
Losing a Son or Daughter is hear rending ,TRAINING SHOULD BE MANDATORY . AND ! not just because I had to go thru it .

It was nice to hear some Empathy for that poor ....... ,regardless .

Not to sound like a martyr or saint which I am definitely not, any pointless death on a motorcycle should not be mocked or taken lightly.
Some of these new guys just don’t know better. Some might be full of bravado, whereas other are just plain ignorant and have never had help or advise.

I have had 42 years of good motorcycling, and in return I try help any newbie that wants my guidance. I may not know everything, but can surely still help .

I always try promote safety gear, track schools and good reading material. I make a point to help with basics many of us take for granted.

If someone wants to listen , and I can save a life then all good.

That's a bummer....period! Can't even image how embarrassed the poor guy was/is. Wouldn't wish that on anybody.

I agree completely. I have 30+ years of riding. I always try to be an ambassador to our sport. I will always help someone that ask for it. I would have also suggested to the person in this video to put this bike away for a season or two and ride a 500 or 600 to learn the mechanics of riding.

I think we ought to have graduated licenses for bikes in the US like Europe does. Pretty clear the guy in the video was over his head. Least it was a parking lot tumble and not on the road at speed.

right, that's what we need in america. more laws. we should retest annually and each license should be based on skill and engine size. the police can administer all the tests and if you are caught with the wrong license, first offense is a huge fine and second offense is jail time. license fees start at $500 and up depending on how badly you want to ride. you can get a license to ride around town but you need a travel license to leave the state. track licenses are given only to "racers" and those start out at $1000.

or we can keep it the way we have it now and people can take responsibility for themselves and their property instead of thru government licensing schemes and programs that help nobody.

i vote for an endorsement (if that) and that's it, end of story.

We have a graduated license program here in Ontario and I think it's pretty reasonable. First 90 days you aren't allowed to ride at night, 0 blood alcohol content & you can't drive on any road that has a speed limit above 80 km/hour.

After 90 days you have to take a road test and you basically have an unrestricted license except for a 0 blood alcohol content.

After 1 year, you can take a second road test and get your full unrestricted license.

For start to finish it's a couple of hundred dollars. I think it's a good system that keeps new riders safer for the first year without really limiting what one is able to do or purchase. All of the timelines are reduced if you attend and pass an MSF accredited course.

I am glad that I went through the graduated system. I had a 750 when I was 16 and I think that the 90 day restrictions that I had on my license probably helped me from meeting some unfortunate situations.

As for the video looks very newbie

This is why we have bikes now with no bottom end, because people were killing themselves.

The first 1000cc bikes pushing out big HP and lots of torque ie. K1/K2 gixxer and first gen R1 are known as widow maker.

Here we have progressive licensing used to be 250cc for a year then whatever size now its power to weight up to 650cc then whatever.

And the test is looking for low speed skill

^no offense to my fellow ducati riders, blokes, and mates but we don't care to adopt any parts of the UK/Canada/AU license processes. clearly it's my opinion and i'm only speaking for myself but i feel the less government involvement, the better. if you want to make this all private and optional, not a problem with it.

i think it's crazy that new riders can walk in and purchase the most powerful production motorcycles available with little to no experience. The guy in the vid is a clear novice.

I have 0 issues with a newbie buying the most powerful sportbike available. If a newbie who has little to no experience on a bike is dumb enough to decide on that kind of a purchase, then there are zero ..... given to whatever may happen to him. Afterall, isn't that what Darwinism is all about? Bike doesn't hurt or kill someone. Common sense is not something everyone has and a motorcycle purchase requires some level of common sense.

Darwinism is long long gone now we have societies.....no longer small tribal people living/working together.

A purchase requires 0 common sense, you just go buy it. Think you mean self control......not hard for newbie to f*ck up.

Are you saying after 1 year you can have X blood alcohol content and be legal to drive...?

America you can get license for car/MC even if your a Dotard..
Check license requirements in Germany or Japan to drive a car..
