I currently have a 2019 v4s had it for 3 years full
Akrapovic and some other bits nothing to serious .

Im looking at changing it for either a new 23 v4s or a previous model v4r. Would
Also consider an sp2 but out of price range atm.

Use the bike for leisurely riding and will
Start doing track days.
Any advice of which to go for would be appreciated and why .
Thanks

23 V4S.
Better chassis geometry, better electronics.

SP is for showing off outside Starbucks.

V4R is for racing, if the regs where you race, don't allow over 1000cc.

Understand that but isn’t the R a bit more special because it’s an R and technically a homologated race bike ? Also likely to retain value ?

And there you go. It's more special, because it is.

The engine is more exciting, but it isn't more effective.

Best advice, go and ride an R if you like it, do you sums and see if you can keep one fed and watered.

2023 V4 base and upgrade it. But, if you're just now doing trackdays, the model year differences aren't going to be super significant. I'd probably spend more on classes and more track days before a new bike.
