Hello guys, I never had a ducati before and soon my dream will come true (I hope) I am going to buy a used 1199s and I need some help to find a good one. Any advice will be welcome. I am located in Bulgaria but I can buy from any country in Europe if there is a good deal.

Good question, there's always a little risk in buying a used motorcycle. I look at physical condition first, has it been dropped or wrecked? Clean title? Then i ask about regular maintenance items (oil changes etc.). Other than that there isnt much else you need to know. Good luck, i bougth my 1199 last year and so far it has been trouble free.

The one I am willing to buy is located in Bulgaria but its bought from Germany. The man says that it has full service history in ducati dealerships with desmo services. It looks really clean with only termi exhaust system and a MRA windshield and the man aks for 9k euro. Also I want to know how many keys the bike have and I read something about a "passcode " ?!
This is the only one 1199s for sale in Bulgaria. There are 2 more but they are imported from USA by dealers. I am avoid buying vehicles from second hand dealers because they buy cheap (mostly crashed cars/bikes) then repair them and sell them for profit. Sometimes they are stolen.

There is one bike in Spain for a really cheap price - 4200 euro: Ducati from € 4,200.-
I contacted the seller and he sent me really good pics. As he describe the bike is 100% perfect but he need to sell it. What do you think. Even if I fly to Spain, buy it , transport it will be cheaper than the first one.

I think if they give you the vin # you could check with the Ducati dealership about service history. Mine came with two keys, the passcode i set myself when i got the bike. Might ask if the passcode has been set yet.

I am 99.9% sure this is a fake sales ad , you don`t get a good 1199s below 10.000 euro in the EU.
Be 211% sure before you fly to Spain
Other Ads from AutoSouth24, this looks strange ;-)

be safe out there. a recent poster on rennlist wired money into outerspace on a 944 s2. post some pix

cycletrader shows them in the $14-15K range but super low mileage examples. (imho, driving something is the best maintenance)

Can somebody tell a way to check if the electronic systems (DTC, DQS, EBC, ABS) and the suspension (DES) works normally. I have 0 experience with this systems on a motorbike and I dont know how they should work.

Also I want to ask about this "passcode". For what it is and where is used? How to check if its added and how can I add it for myself.

Out of curiosity - what are you riding today?

I would assume if there are no warning or error codes shown on the dash at start up the electronics are functioning normally. The PIN code can be set to allow you to start the bike if the E-Lock system (anti theft immobilizer) does not recognize the key in the ignition (interference, malfunction etc). Without the PIN being set, if the key is not recognized you can not start the bike. You set the PIN from the main Menu (hold down lower button on left turn signal switch for 3 seconds with the ignition on). You scroll through the Menu using the lower and upper button on the left turn signal switch. You Select the Menu option by pressing in on the middle button (the turn signal selector). PIN Code is one of the Menu options. If it is already set and you do not know it, you have to go to a dealer to have it reset/removed. Many dealers around me set the PIN as part of their bike delivery process to the last 4 digits of the bike VIN. FYI, I have only had to use my PIN one time to start the bike, not sure what happened but it only did it once in 3 years.

Ok the passcode is a special code from Ducati, like a promo and if you punch it in you automatically get *50 extra HP * New Tires* and *a set of steak knives* all mailed to you from Nigeria.

trooper3 was clear enough. Thank you for your answers dude. Next week I will go to see one 1199 and I will tell you if I pick it.

Glad I could help and good luck with your purchase. Having a Ducati Superbike is the closest I can get to ever owning something like a Ferrari, they are both beautiful Italian works of art, even if they are a little temperamental and hot headed at times.

This is the reason I want a Ducati. I dont need it for the power it has but for the unique design and the feeling it gives. Many ppl call it "the ferrari of the motorcycles."

Wait....what? I never got any steak knives! The extra power and new tires were nice, but I could've really used a good set of steak knives. That does it, I'm going to raise hell at my next service

I GOT IT GUYS !!! The 1199s is in the garage. I made only 100 km on it and I loved it. Really really amazing.

Congratulations! That is awesome, does it have the full Termignoni system (ie Racing Evo on the dash at start up)? No matter, it is an animal, an angry beast, be careful on the road. I miss mine already, she is so beautiful!

This is why ferrari has more. I wish this they could do an official race regarding that.

Hello again. Sorry for the late reply but I was really busy to work and explore my new bike :)

So here is what I got:

- 2013 Panigale 1199s - 35k km / 22k miles on it
- Full termi exhaust system + upmap installed
- Carbon engine guard
- Racing gas cap
- Tidy tail R&G
- MRA Windshield
- Anti wheelie front "spoilers" (an addition spoiler in the front to make the bike more wide. You cant see it on the picture because it fits perfectly and if you dont know about it you cant notice it.)

The previous owner also gave me:

- Stock exhaust system
- Stock windshield
- Stock gas cap
- EML 327 bluetooth + ducati 4 pin adapter
- Ducati comfort seat + rear stock seat + rear seat cover
- Front and rear stands
- 2nd set of Supercorsa tires (the one on the bike was over anyway)

And He was so nice to give me a Ducati flag he bought from the Misano MotoGP last year.

The bike has a full service history at Ducati. (We made full check at the dealership for about 2 hours with the mechanic.)
The bike has a very little leak from the cylinder but the mechanic told me that its a common and there is nothing to worry about. He even told me to dont fix it unless it start getting bigger.
Rear brake pads must be changed and all the liquids also. I will do this by myself because the closest dealership is 500miles away. I will go there only for the next desmo services.
I will buy the oil, filters and everything I need from them so I can be sure the quality is good.

In the moment I write this I have 500 miles on the bike and it feels absolutely amazing. I was worried that it will take me long time to get used to the bike but it didnt. Of course there must be a lot to improve of my riding but I feel it good. Amazing brakes, amazing stability, amazing steering, amazing cornering.

I will end this thread here with a video and I will open a new one with some questions about the bike. Best regards, Nikolay
