Dunno where you got 50! More like 15-20.

So it does work? 15-20 is good though!!! Hot here in the Phils...we do close to 40c at times... Ducati dealer here sells this Engine Ice product...maybe I should have them put it once and for all! Darn heat!

I spoke to the dealer today, some of the 2013's have the Ducati recommended "AGIP PERMANENT SPEZIAL" Coolant which is suppose to be even better than those products listed above (so the dealer says) 2012 and early 2013 may not have this and they are upgrading some to this. May want to look at your fluid to confirm

I use water wetter. I think its good for 10. no way 20 degrees. . . Thats like saying it'll never go over 200 anymore with water wetter - no way. . . . .

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check into that.
Doesn't show Ducati on there but does show Audi....

Do we have antifreeze in our bikes, or just distilled water? Also, when using water wetter, do you just add it to the overflow, or directly through the radiator pressure cap?

engine ice is just environmentally friendly anti-freeze - has no effect on temp difference that i was able to tell, and engine ice themselves will tell you (when asked) -- however many people swear by its temperature reduction properties, and seem to keep spreading the word about it

-- Motul has a product that supposedly lowers running temperatures, "Moto-Cool" on their web site - never used it myself, so have nothing to share on it

-- over the years i've seen temps run upwards of 220 225 (highest) - as long as the fans start up (@ 219?) there is no risk of a full blown over heat, so i stick with normal anti freeze -- just my .02 cents

The Dragon .... has the Pro Stock race mapping and it disables the fan so heat became a real problem in traffic. I had her go as high as 109 degrees C (and climbing) which was not good for my blood pressure of for her engine's continued well being so I fitted a switch to the fan. The moment she goes over 90 degrees C I switch the fan on and that keeps her from becoming much hotter before her temperature starts dropping. It solved her problems completely. A similar mod should solve your heat problems too, I think the Ducati settings make the fan kick in way to late.

Is there a DIY for adding a switch to the fan? Also, will it still come on automatically if you forget to turn it on manually?

I had the guys who work on the Dragon .... do it and it was necessitated by the Pro Stock race mapping which disables the fan switch.

If you ride a bike like the Panigale and you do not pay 100% attention you may end up dead.

Added Cox guard and haven't noticed much difference but also added water wetter at the same service so a wash at worst but seems to be a little cooler. If outside Temp is 80 to 90 I run between 170 and 210 depending on gearing and speed. Run harder and under 70 and I am over 200. I rarely sit in traffic but it will get hotter if I sit but never over about 215 so far.

You guys are definitely running hotter than me. I've got no rad guards, Termi slips/up-map, MWR HE filter and I've never seen over 217 F. It hits 217, the fans kick on, and it drops almost immediately to about 213 while stuck in traffic. As soon as I move above 20 mph it drops a whole bunch more. Perhaps the pre-mix Engine Ice at Cycle Gear isn't BS after all (had the system flushed completely and refilled with the stuff at the first service)?

I'm in Central Florida, BTW, stupid hot and humid 8 months of the year.

^^^that's a strong recommendation for Engine Ice considering the climate that you ride in and that you are sitting in traffic. When it's above 90 degrees here and I'm stuck at a light in traffic, it tends to run as high as 220 (on long lights).

How many ounces/bottles of Engine Ice do you use after completing a radiator flush? 228 ounces?

215 I saw a few days ago. Gonna do water wetter as well. Worked great on the L-Twin.

(EDIT)

Hit 228 degrees today in Denver. The new DP seat helped keep things to a low boil on my body.

The rad guards don't make a difference cause the heat comes at standstill and there is no airflow anyway through the radiator , when the fan kicks in the temp drops, so again the guard is not preventing air flow.
I will drain and run about 10% antifreeze, that will give the system a conditioner and soften the water enough.
Winter I don't ride so I drain it.
Don't know if I can get water wetter where I am.
note. My dealer put 10w/40 in on the 1000service, that oil I will take out and use 15w/50 with the bike running over 100°.
I made my own rad guards paying attention to air flow problems I might instigate, maybe other ones do cause a problem.
Also noticed, I had no engine covers, I put the right side on cause the 3 bolt heads were branding me, but I had higher engine temperature and felt the heat more and took it off again. the plastic cover was holding the heat in the head and increasing engine temp..

I attached a coffee percolator to mine for some great brew. Most expensive coffee maker ever...

2 eggs with you brew I bet

You know ducati could make Keurig & George Forman grill go under if they targeted the 24-39 year old male breakfast enthusiast
