Wheel Weights....

I have not found it for certain but I think your original wheel weight is

Plombco
part# 312Fe-52

I would be very interested in the original wheel weights also, They are the cleanest looking, and have a small footprint.
My dealer cant find them either.

I have a brochure from Plombco and it looks exactly like the original weight.

Like I said it's my best guess and who knows if anyone's literature is correct. The brochure definetly doesn't look like the online picture.

-- are they lead ?

-- isn't there a way to see them ?

Fe in the part number signifies steel which is what most OE's are moving towards.

You got me on the picture. Maybe contact them somehow. I work for the competition. :D

...lol's.....well you certainly haven't given up.....it'd be nice to see if you can actually find them - thanks for the effort.....

-- i guess staying within a 5gram window...is ok

Not OEM - Plombco

There are multiple options for you:

Most likely the OEM part is the Hofmann Power Weight type 799

Hofmann Power Weight | Home | Balance weight

Perfect Equipment | Zinc Wheel Weights | Steel Wheel Weights | Lead Wheel Weights

One of the previous picture (red strip, 3 oz, 1/4 oz segments) is from Perfect Equipment - those were made of lead and not likely used anymore at the OEM level. Most OEMs are using zinc and/or steel. Victory uses Perfect Equipment steel 5 gr segments, HD is using a 5 gr segment from China. All the motion pro and K&L product comes from China and lately some change in the product or manufacturing is creating a nasty product.

Hofmann has released the Type 380 in 8 different colors, and the only place I can find it for sale to the public is here: carid.com ; just did a search for hofmann type 380. It appears you can buy them in strips or 25 count boxes.

Zinc also seems to be much easier to use than the steel weights, if you are looking for non lead weights.

Hope this helps...

I believe those are Zinc. They are mostly sold in European markets and in some CA markets. Not a very popular weight because of the porus nature of the material(weight change, rust, corrosion) and the material not being maliable simular to the steel weight.

On a side note I did notice when I replaced the tires on my bike the dealership used a steel tape weight that is pretty ugly.

Gramps, I doubt that zinc weights are not very popular or porous (zinc doesn't rust by the way, steel does though). Zinc weights are used by almost all OE's in at least one application or another. In passenger cars, I see them all over Chysler, Dodge and Jeep, on Ford HD Trucks, on almost all fleet trucks, and on every EU Car and Moto; at the OEM level. (Just take a look at a dealership lot). A simple Google search can reveal the debate going on between zinc and steel weights. Looks like the company you represent has only steel and no zinc.

I for one, am tired of the import steel coming in through the usual Moto distributors. The bib flange steel weights are useless, the adhesive on the strips fail way too much, and all seem way over priced coming from China. When K&L got wrapped up in the CA law, banning lead weights in 2009, the supply of solid wheel weights got moved to the Far East. Just wish another K&L type company, not based in CA, would supply the lead weights we are all use too.

....well...you've given a lot of information....but none of the items you refer to are the oem weight :(

-- the oem may not be lead, but it looks nicer than the others.....not a big deal, but would be ok to have the choice of getting it or not....

-- lead seems to still be the way to go, since you can cut them down....if you're overly anal about the balance part of it :)
