When ABS is in "SPORT", does ABS auto give rear brake when front lever is pulled?

So I read somewhere that when I use the front brake lever the ABS automatically gives a little rear brake on its own. Did I dream this or is correct?? Anyone use the rear brake ever anyways? I used to tons on my track bike Triumph 675 but not so much on this Pani.

Thanks....

Only a very little bit, not like on Honda linked brake system. Not even noticeable.
No I don't use the rear on the track. Maybe I should learn....

Not exactly, what you're describing is a "linked brake" system, where when you pull one lever it applies braking to both ends. That's not how it works on the 1199. What it will do is what's called "distributed braking ABS", how it works is that if you are on the front brake hard and the ABS actually kicks in to stop front wheel lockup, during that time it will automatically apply rear braking power, up to the point that the rear wheel locks. The idea is that in a hard/panic stop, it will help get you stopped in the shortest distance possible, knowing that most riders can't control rear brake use during a panic stop, most on a sport bike will just grab the front lever hard.

Will the front brakes be applied if you use rear only. I'm just asking as for knowledge purpose, not gonna actually use rear brakes only.

That's what I figured. Since when I do use the rear brake on aggresive stopping and soon track days, there is obviosuly a noticably bigger bite, which I like. Nice to know the 1199 helps a little if I dont always use the rear.

BTW, a large Red Trolley Metro bus here in San Diego pulled out in front of me as I was doing about 45 and accelerating near my house. I slammed on the front and rear brake levers and managed to lockup and slide the rear. I leaned to my right to try and miss the huge long double-length a-hole bus. The rear stepped out and I kinda did a dirtbike stop perpindicular to original path. Then I saw a big black skid mark from my rear tire in a crazy lower case "r". Missed the bus by 2 or 3ft. I saw his eyes open as he thought he was gonna hit me. What an ...... Track experience most definitely helped with that kind of stop. And the Brembos too haha. #luckythattime
