I have to lay my 1199 up for 4 possibly 6 months as I head to Florida for work. Can anyone advise as the best option for a battery charger for when I come back. The one in the manual is 69924601A.

Can anyone tell me if this comes with a European plug as standard with a US adapter. It is just that I am going to purchase this in Florida & take home to Spain.

I used the Battery Tender - You can get a Euro Version - They also work with the Shoria battery

I use this one

Battery Minder

Works great for all types of batteries, has builtin temperature compensation, and can desulphate poorly maintained or conditioned batteries.

I tend my moto battery nightly but have also used this to tend motos for up to 6 months, with no starting issues.

Just my opinion, but probably the best non auto charger I have ever used (use it for other smaller 12v batteries too)

Personally if I was leaving my bike 6months unattended i"d take the battery off the bike and leave it on trickle charge in a dry place and safely away from any area that gets too cold. Doubt that will be a problem in Spain. I"m a convert to Cetek chargers. Well made neat units with an array of lights telling you exactly what the charger is doing, childs play. Other reason i"d take battery off would be to protect the bike from any corrosive gases that may be produced while kept on charge for such a long time. Being immobile means the gases,if any, wont be getting drawn away.

I work in the middle east several months at a time. I swear by my CTEK battery tender. Set and forget 24/7. My 999S had never had an issue starting.

I've used only deltran battery tenders since I first started with ducatis in 98, never an issue, always kept the battery at optimum.

Just bought another Ducati charger, have been using the previous version on my 848 also. Worked very well for several years now.

IMHO Supduc10 had a very good suggestion. I'd also put the bike on front and rear paddock stands.

I have the Ducati charger that the manual references:

Used it a few times.

After not riding for 2-weeks, it spent a few hours in "Charge" mode, before switching to "Maintenance".

Small, plug-n-play via under seat diag port, so job done for me.

Optimate for me. I had one already so it was just a case of fitting a £5.00 lead and all is well.

I use ctek charges for most of my cars and bikes (unless it has a lithium battery in it). I'm sure ctek has a european adapter for their chargers as well since they OEM their chargers to several car manufacturers.

North bank gooner ? Really ? gooner as well (12 year ticket holder)

I used the Ducati Battery Maintainer. Did you guys find the cable that comes from the storage compartment really short and its a pain in the ... to mate the charger and plug?

I have been using the DELTRAN BATTERY TENDER on my previous bikes and am now using it on my Panigale.

I simply connected the Pigtail harness on to the battery Terminals and plug the Deltran Batttery Tender when I wont be using my Pani for quite sometime.

Works really well and never had any issues.

I actually have both harnesses connected. I have the one that came with the Shorai lithium charger, and one to use to power iPhone, GPS, etc. on extended trips.

How much was it? Just plug it straight in, where?
