Who listens to music?

Dude, excellent post.

I'm a mild audiophile myself. I have a set of the top line Shures, or at least they were top line 3 years ago when I got them. I can't remember the model right now. They have three drivers and of course are in the ear style. I also have a set of the two driver Apple in ear headphones, which are surprising good, especially considering the price point.

I am looking for that magical combination of the ease of the integrated speaker in-the-helmet solution. But it sounds like based on your feedback, that doesn't exist. Nonetheless, at least right now, I think I would like give the Scala a try. I get though that I'll be hearing some tinny music. I just get tired of the boots, gloves, jacket, pants, prep I have to do before a ride, and I'm trying to minimize the amount of time I spend gearing up. I feel like I'm going out on a mission in the 'ghan these days when I go for a ride!

Music is a must on certain ride. I use my iPhone 4s and beats headphones. I prefer this set up because I can not only listen to music on my phone. I can listen to the radio and the headphones allow me to turn the music up and down and switch songs which I like. Also a plus is since the iPhone has Siri I can answer phone calls while riding with these headphones and if I really want to I can use Siri to send txts. All my friends use this set up and it's pretty awesome. Headphones have a great quality to me and keep a lot of the wind noise down depending on how loud you have the music playing.

I know what you mean about all the crap we have to gear up with and trying to reduce that. I would be very curious about your results with the Scala, or whatever you end up going with.

I have had a custom set of Westone CR-5's made which are designed for helmets. SENA makes a comm system that accepts custom buds. I have found this to be by far the best sounding combination fo music and comms in a single system.

I use these Sony ear buds with the grommet. Comes in different sizes and audio is great. Plug it into my iPhone and put into the inside pocket of my riding jacket. Only issue is that I can't change songs unless I take it out.

Great headphones though.

I use the Chatterbox xbi2 with my Shoei RF1100 and think it works excellent. Its loud at freeway speeds and has a nice fit on the helmet without looking like you have a CB radio attached to your head.

Same setup I'm with currently. I'll be trying the Bose earbuds with buttons for control.

I have the Bose and they work well. I can even operate the buttons with my gloves to stop/play and skip songs plus volume control. Also use them to talk on the phone while driving and music at the gym. No complaints here.

I own the sena smh10 and found the stock speakers to be inadequate when wanting loud music. It as drowned out by the wind and bike noise. Revzilla would not take them back but did send me the ear bud device instead. Then the search was on for quality buds!

First I tried Bose which really don't even go deep enough inside your ear. Still too much wind and noise. Then tried the Beats which stuck out too far and regardless of how slow I put helmet on the pulled out! THEN while wearing out my welcome at Best Buy I went into the Magnolia area where all the high end audio was! There sitting under glass cases were several pair of really sweet high priced ear buds that they even let me try on all of too!

Ended up spending wayyy more money than I should've but now I block out evruthing but great music, that I even have to turn volume down on w Sebastian great jog wheel. Make and take calls at ease and everyone says I come in loud and clear, with them the same!
What are the overpriced earbuds you ask? Special Edition Miles Davis series that almost disappear inside your damn ear with their slim line trumpet shape. If wife only knew they were $300.!! Ughhhhh.

I either use a Zune in the inside pocket of my jacket with earbuds or use a Sony Ericsson MW600 bluetooth receiver with earbuds. The MW600 pairs and prioritizes 3 different bluetooth streams, has a built in FM receiver, a mic for phone usage and can control an MP3 player via bluetooth. Rechargeable battery lasts a full day of riding for me. I typically pair it with a Garmin 660 GPS unit so I can hear route instructions and listen to music at the same time.

True

I think the Sena SMH10 with an optional 3.5mm jack helmet clamp is the only way to use decent ear buds with bluetooth.

This is what I went with and after getting the adapter and some seriously high end earbuds that Danm near disappear inside my ear with quality sound (monster miles Davis edition) this set up works like a charm and can change songs using the jog wheels, stop music, and whether you wanted to take calls or not the unitvhas a nice little ring when someone calls you. I did research on all of this for weeks and trial and error Gman.

And I don't want to use Sena. I don't trust them, and all people I see have Scala. :-/

To each their own but you basically just admit your a follower since everyone else has them, and "you dont trust them?"
Hmm. Love to hear rationale for that. I had issues with the unit but adapter w earbuds solved it all.
