Who would buy an 1199 again

Get into it mate, this isn't just a bike, it is therapy....the grins this thing gives me last for months, clears the head and focuses the attention, awsesome kit and would do it again with no hesitation.

I would gladly buy the parts and build another ( oh wait, I am). Great bike done right. 30k from the dealer just to remove and try to sell most of the parts and keep what I want? Not a snowball chance in hell. It ain't a 30k bike.

I guess I am rare species: Have two 1199s (2012, 2014) and one 1299 (2017), and I prefer the 1199. I love it's uncouth cruelty. Makes me feel that I'm a man, not a hipster :)

Gecko ! Spot on as usual !!!!!

I would buy another one without putting a whole lot of thought into it. My 1199 and myself have had some ups and downs… And the times she is quirky -- but every Italian bike that I have ever owned has been the same way. I've never had a bike that demanded my attention and respect as much as the 1199, nor have I ever smiled as much while riding.

Definitely.

The 1199 has probably more appeal now than 2012 since it is finally very competitive in WSBK. It's light, sounds great, full of the latest electronics, and awesome to look at.

I'm on the same side of the fence as most of the people posting here. I have a 2013 1199S. Because of work and travel, I don't get to ride it much. But when I do get a chance, it's bliss.

It's still the sexiest looking bike that money can buy. And it does have a certain rawness to it that I love.

Would I do it again? Yes - in a heartbeat.

I just picked up a 12 tricolore with 2k miles for $14800. Had it for a month and I love it. It does have a rawness to it that keeps you more alert and more satisfied when you ride spirited. So far I would definitely early. It it again. The pure sexiness and rawness are the main reason I would buy it again.

Took me 3 of them to finally get the one that I always wanted. But if I could afford it I would literally buy a second to keep in a crate until this one is (respectfully) run into the ground. Open the box and start all over again!

Coming up on 50,000 on my 2013 PanigaleS. Love the bike, learned to adapt to some of the issues that were unique to the bike. Had the bike for 2 full riding seasons - it had almost no mileage when I bought it.

Buy one again? Of course - the smile factor is HUGE.....

Unlike a lot of people in this site, I ride long distances - not track. I enjoy the bike and know it's capabilities ... All my friends and relatives who have tried the bike get off wearing a huge smile and usually comment "Oh Sh*t" :):)

Good looking bike in the pictures - the price you pay does not matter - it is only the price of admission into FUN.... BUY - RIDE and NEVER look back...

Enjoy

I absolutely would. Mine is almost exactly four years old. When I bought it I was 60 years old and really wasn't sure if I'd be able to ride it very long and assumed I would not use enough of its capabilities. Keep in mind that I own two other neat bikes, one of which is damn near as fast up to about 100 (mainly because it has the nannies to keep the front end down).

Four year and 64 years old I have found that I cannot imagine getting rid of it unless I get a 1299. The bike has zero chicken strips and sees "go straight to jail and do not pass go" speeds every time I ride it. For reference, I ride a total of about 20,000 miles a year, and the 1199 gets about 4,000 a year. A typical Sunday morning I put 150 miles on it and am home by 10:30. I've done several 350+ mile days on it, but I admit I'm ready to be off the bike at anything of that length. 250 is a good day for me on it.

I had a 1199S tricolore and just sold my 1299S in preparation for my move to CA - Im buying a 1299S in CA as soon as I land and have my renewed CA licence.
The 1199S is a lovely bike, the 1299S moves the game on again.

this is a tough question because i have had many issues with my bike, however hopefully that is an afterthought. fingers crossed.

would i buy it again my answer would be yes and no. I bought mine brand new 2012 picked it up in june. no discount really and put lots of money into it. so would i buy new again first year absolutely 100% no

when i got mine ducati left out so much stuff (oil viewer for one no need to check oil with this bike) that it was almost comical. there wasnt an R at the time either.

2 years later i would say all the bugs were out and lets not forget the resale value. knowing what i know now id get a bike like gunny (real gunny not the fake gunny), evol, scrapperX (point is immaculate bikes) used for almost half off retail.

for me to buy a new ducati superbike it would have to be:
at least 2 years from the first one (introduced in 2018 id get the 2020)
A V4
An R version.
and discounted paying msrp is just stoopid.

currently very happy with my garage
