My 1299 feels like it always wants to throw me off the back if I don’t squeez and hang on real tight. I LOVE IT!

The looks of the 2020 V4 are to die for (opinion) but will I miss my big twin engine if I “upgrade” to a V4?

Well, I can't comment on the power or feeling of the 1299 but having ridden a 1199S with a Rapid Bike piggy back, I was in love! Having owned 2 V4S's now I can tell you this:

1. You will not miss the tractor like effect at low revs.
2. You will not miss the heat soak on your ass and legs.
3. Having to push the suspension to make it work.

You would like this from the V4S:

1. Incredible daily riding and smoothness from the V4 powerplant.
2. The no .... Moto GP scream from this engine at full honk.
3. The decent "rumble" from the low rev section of the bike around town.
4. Improved electronics and balance.
5. Handling is near telepathic!

Overall, I think the V4S is the perfect evolution in the brand. Can't imagine getting rid of a bike, just to get a new one but the V4S in my opinion is that bike.

This bike is so damn fast you can't probably imagine. It's scary fast!

thank you for the comparison! I’ve been itching for a test ride since they announced the 2020 model. I didn’t love the side view of the 2018 V4 moored to my 1299. I figure 1 test ride and I’ll make up my mind

1. You will not miss the tractor like effect at low revs.

My BrennTuning flash sorted that out by a noticeable degree but THATS EXACTLY HOW IT FEELS

I think it sounds like my Hustler Super Z. Ppl don’t know what that is so I tell them it sounds like Cub Cadet

No wonder why it always shakes itself apart

I love my L2 and will never get rid of them as long as i can ride them.
I do have some pretty special editions, but god the torque is ridiculous on these bikes, feel, sound presence.

I agree with the monster low RPM torque. Mine yanks the front wheel right up at 1,500 rpm

I think Ducati wanted to go the other way with the v4 and make it less likely to rocket out from between my legs for “faster lap times” haha

1299 is no joke, especially tuned. Still feels like around 6500-7000 is a slight dead spot but much better with the tune than Akra UpMap

Try turning all the electronics off especially wheelie control, it goes from a slap in your face to a full on right hook. Its fun but a bit hairy, DWC on 1 slows it down just enough for my level.

Reviewing the back to back V4/V2 rides, I have to say the V4 is a very nice bike that I think will grow on you, its better handling out of the box and more refined. The twin gives you its best go fast in the mid range, the 4 is a top end animal. Cant wait to get mine but no 2020's available now.

I still have my 848 Evo, and kept my 1199R when I got my V4S. I dont get rid of any of em just to "upgrade" to a newer model. Different engines, different character, different quirks. It's like having 3 wives and you absolutely love and adore all of em lol. The way I see it, if you can afford to, keep one from every generation.

that’s the answer I’ve been waiting for

Mate I had the 2015 R and it was an awesome machine. I've said it before if I had the money I would have had two machines. But the reality is every time I went to the garage I would take the V4.

Took a while to recalibrate my brain to use the rev range more but the V4 is just a better bike, for me at least. Better handling, always hated electronic suspension but love this version. Better seating position. More user friendly in general. Better peripheral electronics such as screens, dash, navigating them etc. The gentleman before mentioned the V-twin to be more exhilarating but I disagree. The torque on the twin is monstrous and the V4 seriously lacks it which i dearly miss, but what makes up for that is when you have the throttle pinned and you hit 158 mph in forth with two to go, pulling like a freight train...... still exhilarating if you ask me.

I can sit here all day picking pros and cons but the V4 still comes out on top. Not as pretty or as slim but get that thing moving and it is phenomenal. If you haven't test ridden yet I suggest you do so and you will see what I mean.
