Will rearsets help the pain?

Riding on your heels would allow more head to leg surface area contact. Reverse of what your looking for. I think you need to experiment for what works for you. Maybe a different rear set that decreases the seat to peg distance to allow your leg higher on the tank.

Ok, I guess I need to explain, No shorts! Jeans! ;). I ride on the ball of my feet! Force of habit, and I do use my knees a lot to hold the bike, I understand that it would be easier if I didn't and I get relief by either moving my leg open or going to my toes on the pegs, I can't bring myself to ride on my heels of my feet like some squid! IMO! And when I say a gear freak I mean I always wear jeans at least and jacket. Never shorts and a t shirt!

I am thinking of a knee area wrap or like a patch on my jeans or something.

My opinion is if you raise your legs up with your peg position, you will move your leg up and away from being directly next to the cylinder head. I have my pegs all the way up on my Lightechs and heat isn't much of an issue. It's just there... I also did not install the cylinder heat shields.

I have the same issue here in the Philippiness. 34c climate with engine temp hovering between 90c-103c...on very warm days...

I have the upgraded heatshield installed and that it worked somewhat. Dramatic improvement though but heat is still noticeable. No burns so far. I'm 5'10 172Lbs, stock seat height, no afternarket rearsets. But I did get burns on my right thigh before when I had the stock heatshield and was wearing sort of Ballistic nylon lined touring pants...

I guess the nylon lining tends to trap and attract more heat which caused my right thigh blisters. Switched to Kevlar lined AlpineStar Jeans and there was drastically less heat. My analysis is, the Jean material with kevlar lining works far more efficiently in heat dissipation than my nylon lined touring pants.

Never used my nylon lined touring pants again...Though there was a dramatic difference with the new heatshield in place...though heat now is more bearable than before. Heat emanates from the horseshoe header under the seat. Still hot though for our 30c-34c climate...cant do much...

I always wear 2pc vented leather Agro dainese suit when riding with my buddies on sundays... and wear the kevlar lined jeans and vented jacket on short trips to town etc...

Love the bike all the same!

i WISH it was only 34c here. it's even hotter in Vegas....

it was 42c here last week and I think Vegas was up to 46c.

i don't ride in that kind of temp. that's why I have AC in the car.

I have had no heat problems with the 1199 so far, but had problems with the 1198 burning my right calf. I had a great fix too, which was to wear an LS knee support over my calf and under my jeans. For whatever reason, the knee support was a great heat shield!

Wearing leather riding pants would alleviate the burns. I had the same problem heat problems on the R1 but with my left ankle.

At 6' tall I've had discomfort on my right leg with my 1199r at 241F, but nothing like that kind of burn. I have the DP race seat.

There may be something to reducing the seat to peg distance as it moves your thigh up and out of contact. I feel pretty tight in my riding position and would stretch it out a little with adjustable pegs...but that sounds like it might cause other issues.

I have a lot of miles on my Pani, ride in leathers or jeans, am 5'11 and have never been burned. However, my bike never runs over 102c.

It may be an issue of bikes running to hot. There have been a bunch at my local dealer that are running hotter than usual. One in particular cooked the thermostat housing and blew a hose. If I hear any more about a fix I will post.

I would seriously be upset if I was frying my leg... Race bike or not.

I've seen mine in the 110-111 range, but it gets over 102 really easy. I don't even have to hit traffic to see 102. If I take my favorite local twisty route which takes me back through town where speeds are 25-35 mph I can hit 104-105 easy and that's without ever seeing a traffic signal.

I've put over 1500 miles on my R now--300 of those on the track the rest a mix of city commuting and open roads, including some very slow riding in traffic on hot days.

I haven't had any problem with heat and I ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs at all times and knees against the bike.

But I only ride in full leathers. I would never consider riding the Panigale in anything other than leathers. I wear an Aerostitch Transit suit most of the time.

My R had the full system installed by the dealer before delivery--and it does have the upgraded heat shield and rear cylinder cover--but even with them I wouldn't ride the bike in anything other than leathers.

I'm afraid I don't consider any kinds of jeans, even if kevlar-lined and with pockets for armor, to be protective motorcycle gear. (And I'm afraid I've tested this a couple of times over the past 45 years.) :)

I've been riding in shorts out here in the bay area in 95F heat, yes the bike gets hot but not hot enough to cause blisters. While riding in shorts you have to have a wide stance when you come to a stop because that clutch plate will burn your calf. But I use the stand up and let wind blow pass your balls method as well as the .... your legs open while riding to get a breeze in also. I'm in the process of putting on the full Termi exhaust now and I'll be heat wrapping that loop part thats under the seat, hopefully that cools it down a little.

I got a blister a couple of weeks ago on the inner thigh..

My wife has these for horse riding, maybe we can get Ducati to make some "white people problem riding gear" :)

I just wrapped my full Termi exhaust, I'll be picking my bike up tomorrow and I'll post the results...
