After riding my Panigale in 45 degree weather, in a mesh Ducati leather jacket that lets the air right through (it was a great idea this summer!) - I was wanting to find what others wear in 50 and below degrees - either under your mesh leathers, or instead of.

Just kidding. Full leathers, I've ridden the track at 38 degrees,150 mph. Teaches you to tuck under the fairing
 
one piece transition suite, and heated gears. i ride year round, it would be interesting to see how much grip i can get out of the SP tire under 32F
 
seat warmers come stock on the Panigale. Just wear wool gloves under a pair of oversized riding gloves, 2 pairs of socks, as long as your hands and feet are warm, then it's good to go
 
i wear good thermal and leather jacket with lining in it
in melbourne, australia winter comes to 30F

some reason im ok with it as long as your prepared to deal with cold
 
Had to stop & think, and then laugh, at the reply that "heated seats come standard on the 1199."
I personally like my First Gear Kilimanjaro 2 piece suit. It's actually very well insulated and not bulky. In fact, sometimes it can get a little too warm before I even turn on my separate heated vest and gloves. Yes, I've already installed the battery connection for my heated gear. I can't stand the idea of this beautiful machine just sitting in my garage for 4-6 months.
 
I recon mine is away until April now. 32F this morn and they've started putting salt down.

Not fair.

Methinks mine will only have another few weeks. Temps are not too bad, but lots of leaves and flooding on the surrounding roads. Nothing dries out until late afternoon. :(

Yeah not long for me now either. Even the nights are drawing in so after work rides are all but gone then nowt after the clocks change. Can"t believe your getting the salt treatment already,its a bike killer that crap. I"m still gonna get out when I can,I fooking adore this bike and every ride is a joy.
 
Just a friendly warning. I've done it three times now, I forget the changing temps and the back end gets wild. Watch out, be safe!
 
Under Armour cold gear mock tops plus a couple of thin fleeces under jacket. Just purchased Klim Traverse jacket for winter commute. Genuine goretex woven into 840 cordura for $299!!! Have to buy arm, shoulder and back protectors separately but only about $30 each. I'm really pleased with it! :D
 
At 45 F degrees how are you getting your tires warm, pre heating them or just slow drive warm up ?? Cold tires are the worst !!!! At that temp I am sure the road chills them down too !!!

When I say all year I don't mean I get on the bike every day or commute.
If it's sunny, and the streets are dry I will take a spin on the bikes just to get them out a bit.
Low 30s is about the coldest I got out in.
Under armor, and I layer up, usually wear a turtle neck and a balaclava is a must for me!!
I have a Dainese D system D dry jacket which is great in the winter.
also good gloves are key as for me it's the fingers that go first.

My Ducati leathers arre breathable, so wind goes right through them. I want something warm, that isn't huge, doesn't look like I should be on a Paris Dakar ride!
 
I thought I'd resurrect this thread. I'm looking for winter gloves and for those of you that ride year round, I'm curious what you wear. I bought a pair of Rev'It Bastion GTX on a recommendation and they kind of fall short. I rode yesterday in 29-34F temps and couldn't feel anything below my wrists after about 25 min. Unfortunately, they're too snug to put liners on underneath.
 
I've just been sucking it up with my GP Pro gloves. ALl my gear is made to move air, great in summer... lol
 
IMHO, unless you are a genetic freak or install brush guards you can't make the hands work in those kinds of temps for anything except short distances unless you get heated gear (Gerbings, Powerlet, etc.) or heated grips.

I have Gerbings at the moment and ride year round. We have another thread on it someplace around here...
 
I have been using my Joe Rocket Jacket and gloves and been getting by around Norhtern VA and DC. When I ride further (couple hundred miles) I just put liners in with my gloves. I must admit the only thing that gets cold on me is my hands. I wear only jeans for my legs and I will put a hoody on under my riding jacket. This gets me by for the 30's but I think if it gets any lower I will have to figure something else out.
