I had my bike upmapped, first service, and heat shield last week. The past week I rode it to work and back. No issues in the cool morning but on the way back home with 90 degrees and sunny, the engine got to about 210 degrees F. The right turn signal stopped working and the left odometer control stopped too. I did a search on our site and everyone said its the ECU in the dash.

I call the dealer and they didnt know anything about it. I explained to them what I found and if they didnt know I was going to help them figure it out. So, on the way back from work one day in traffic it stopped working again when engine temp hit 190 degrees. I called the dealer earlier that day and said expect me around 5pm and I will come with engine working so they can see.

I came they saw it and then told me that Ducati just sent a letter to all the dealers with this same issue and they need to replace a wiring harness that doesnt change resistance on the cable when it heats up.

So they ordered it and I am going to get it replaced in 2 weeks. I will let you guys know what happens and I hope this resolves the issue with replacing the ECU or the dash multiple times and having to reset your service alert.

Liability

Can you imagine if someone got maimed/hurt/killed due to their signal not working? The liability that something like this doesnt happen while they are trying to resolve it is huge. So while their ordering the part I have to ride the bike with the right turn signal not working and hope some stupid driver doesnt rear end me.

I have the lux front signals and rizoma's for the rear signals and haven't had this happen yet. But, if it does I bet I'll have to put the stock mirrors and lights back on or they'll blame it on the aftermarket stuff.

Had the same problem...dealer here simply replaced the old dash with a new updated dash (has a different part #). All is perfect...its hot here in the Philippines...doin around 34c...signals, trip meter and horn now workin no matter how hot it gets...

Now, just waitin for the updated heatshield for that horseshoe header under the seat...gets awfully hot near my thighs and under the darn seat in this climate.

Was at a Ducati dealer on Saturday and the service manager said he just received the service bulletin about the wiring harness addressed the issues with the turn signal and up menu button not working intermittently. Supposed to drop my bike off next week as the parts are supposed to be in by Monday.

Will also report back.

No offense, but when I went for my motorcycle endorsement in my state, they require you to know the hand signals. So, if your turn signals are not working, you can still signal your intentions to folks behind you using your left arm and hand.

the dealer just replaced my dash... it will be annoying if it all turns out to just be a wiring harness. A good thing if they actually resolve the issue but a pain for all those of us who have had their odometers reset.

Just got may bike back after the wiring harness. Right turn signal and up/down switch works just fine. I took my bike in traffic and got it up to 216 degrees F and it still worked. Anyone with this issue I would suggest getting the dealer to replace the wiring harness as a recall. Was tired of using my hands for signaling which no one really understood what it meant.

Before the recall the bike's Right turn signal stopped working when it got up to 190 degrees F and the up and down switch for the odometer and temp was not working either.

there was no recall for the turn signal issue but i had my wiring harness replaced per the bulletin and now all is well. it was consistent after two or three minutes, my turn signal would stop working. it would flash properly for a few times but every time, it quite on me almost immediately....despite the temperature. meaning my bike sitting still not even running, it quit working. for my bike, it had nothing to do with the hot weather although i can't say exactly what was going on with the switch/temperature.

today, all is well. no dash replacement.

Good to know there is a 2nd solution for the fix....1st was a dash replacement, now the wiring harness. Good!!! If my new updated dash starts acting up, gettin all my signal lights, trip meter and horn fooling around again...at least I know the wiring harness will solve it once and for all.

Hoping though, my ducati dealer starts stocking on these wiring harness though...so we dont have to wait when it happens.

I posted on previous threads on this issue. I also got the wiring harness done at the 620 mile first service. As states previously, the problem with right turn signal and up-button was intermittent. After the wiring harness replacement it works perfectly, all the time, for the last 400 miles.

My dealer almost ordered me a new dash because they installed the wiring harness wrong and no left-side controls worked at all. I told them about this forum and they looked at the instructions and realized they made a wiring mistake, and now it's perfect - no new dash needed.

What's worse is that all of you who have had to have your dash replaced, now risk the fact that by law, your title must now state "Mileage Inaccurate" or what ever the terminology is for your state/country. Some states even require it to report salvage... Which is complete ........ since its a manufacturing issue. From what my dealer told me this weekend, 99% of the people who had their dash replaced, didn't have to, and this is the issue in and of itself and that the dash is only a result of this issue. If that's true, that makes this even bigger ...........

Sorry guys, I would go back to your dealers and see if they reported it and to whom. It may not concern some if you plan on keeping the bike forever but have you ever tried to sell a bike that has inaccurate mileage? Its not fun nor easy unless you plan on giving it away.

So people buying used Panis down the raod may get a high mileage without knowing. Probably best to get the service records when buying these to be sure.

Couple of things, I *think* in some states, it might not be possible for you to sign that required mileage form that says the odomoter is original and not tampered with....which would suck. I agree with the comments on the odometer, even if you can quantify the inaccuracy. Second, didn't several people initiate/request a dash replacement because they thought the dash was the problem or was this strictly a dealer-initiated response?
