I finally got back to pestering my dealer, and in their defense they've been super helpful, offering to sell me the digital copy for only $25 when they get it.
I called them back after waiting a couple months and this is the explanation I received:
The way Ducati is doing things now, is the manual (probably along with the manuals for all bikes? Not sure on this yet) is on a USB stick, and when the stick is plugged into the computer, it started up a sort of interactive shop manual that, as you can imagine, is probably super helpful to anyone working on a bike. So it's not just a PDF, it's an actual program that runs. They told me they've been trying for weeks to copy this USB stick for customers to use on their own, but they cannot get it to work. Something about there is always some file that gets corrupted or won't copy, and it ends up not working. They said they are still working on it and trying to find a solution because many customers are asking for it.
On another note, I received a call back a couple days after, and they told me that another company had put together a shop manual, and it's available on
houstonsuperbikes.com for $19.99. Unfortunately it only claims to be for the base model as you can see in the models listed. On top of that I have no idea how good it is, but if anyone would like to purchase it and give us a heads up, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it.
In the meantime I'm really hoping that my dealer will come up with some way of getting us the USB stick program because it sounds awesome.
