WSBK 1199 to have restrictors removed for the next race"¦. does anyone know if there is a weight penalty too?

The Panis still don't stand a chance. Last I checked, they were also getting murdered in the corners.

Now Superstock, that's another story....

current motor setup was developed for restrictors. now they have to start all over.
but still - good to hear!

So it's not as simple as removing them and instantly enjoying more power?

Yes! The gloves are off, time to let them have it!!!!!!

Ducati Corse in full effect.

I read that the R motor was built for use without the air restrictors.

Time to come back with the rage and recoup as many superpoles and podiums as possible!

from what i've heard not. i am not quite sure how far they are into gas vibration on the intake side.... different cams, ... they should be prepared :D

but as a side note: the change will have the following effect on the breathing of the motor:

with the 50 mm restrictors, the total surface area of the intake was 3925 mm^2.
open at 67.5 it will be 7153mm^2

that's almost twice as much

I can't wait to see what effect this will have on superpole and the races. Now I hope Checa and Max N. will have what they need to podium. Ayrton Badovini IMO is not going to be making any improvements. The real development begins now. I'm loving it.

From a suspension standpoint what are your opinions on how well the Pani's will fare?

I think a key difference in success between the motogp desmo (overall unsuccessful thus far) and the superbikes(yet to be seen) are the fully carbon monocoque vs the an aluminum monocoque on the latter. I have read that the carbon is too rigid and does not give adequate feed back to the rider therefore presenting the rider with less feel from the front. On the Pani's the monocoque is aluminum and should do a better job of informing the rider of what is happening out front. Better woudn't you say?

Too bad the Monza round is already past, if they had their tuning ready for the removed restrictors, it would have been interesting to see their Vmax.

Another thing to consider is now that they may have more HP and TRQ, does their chassis eat tires over race distance? The ZX-10R and BMW had that problem the first 2 years, i.e. Sykes would qualify well but he would slip back down the field as their race setups ate the tires by mid-race.

Can't wait to see the next few rounds, especially with former Ducati-man Steve Martin giving the technical commentary on the 5-hour BeIn network broadcasts here in the US.

what happens if they annihilate the competition in the first race without restrictors?

restrictors back in?

not saying it will happen, but what if?

absolutely spot on ! they have to throw all development in the bin.. they are pritty close in SSTK but they prepared a load of engines for WSBK as even that limited bhp increase makes them prone to 1000 km rebuilds... all special parts are now to be scrapped.. and then next year, the slowdown should start... moving over to SSTK specifications for SBK ... unfortunate timing...

to my knowledge as the Pani was a new model weight would only come into play after a scorcher of a year.. and the pani is light as it is.. i hope mine will be 172-1755 kg with half a tank of fuel.. so at +/- 164 kg oiled and watered, that is below wsbk spec weight...
