WSBK Homologation

Basically keeps the manufactures from slipping a full GP bike in through a loophole. Not as big of a deal in past years with the level of electronics and chassis changes that were made, but going forward with the new Evo class it will be a big difference. Prepare for the era of factory specials like the R7, RC45/30 etc to return.

the most important factor might be the max price... allowing a 100K bike will get you motogp replica's indeed... just wait for honda to join in ...

can somebody clarify the production racer is the crt bike while the factory bike is the rc213v. is that correct ?

the customer bike has everything BUT the seamless gearbox and pneumatic valves. 24 as opposed to 20Ltrs of fuel and 12 engines as opposed to 6
customer bikes also have to run a spec ECU

Since they plan to reduce the production number requirements for homologation specials, does that mean that the SL would actually be the one based on the new regulations?

They would have to produce 2,000 of them in order to satisfy the requirements.y guess is that there isn't a market for 2,000 of them and instead you will see mild revisions to the R model

The current number is 2000 and they plan to reduce that number drastically.. in that case I am guessing that the SL would likely meet the revised homologation number

(smacks head)

Right you are. That is interesting as I think the original intent is to allow the boutique manufactures like Bimota and EBR in, but with Ducati's history of favorable rulings from FIM..........

Of course Honda is waiting with their V4 racer which supposedly was held up pending final rules for the new spec of WSBK going forward after this year. I personally like the Evo rules myself, I feel as if trickle down technology will happen at a much faster rate now.
