My positive Christmas thread:
It was late September 2013 and after considerable deliberation, I finally decided to buy a Panigale. Called my insurance company to see what the cost would be compared to my BMW 1200S and it wasn't too bad. I spoke with Jerry at GP Bikes previously, and we had a tentative deal with my 1200S in trade. When I decided to pull the trigger, I called him and told him to put a sold sign on a shiny red 1199 base model for me. When I phoned my insurance company back with the VIN, they told me that the bike was on their blacklist. WHAAH? But I already committed to the purchase!! I'm supposed to pick it up tomorrow!! I will be at work and won't have time to shop for new insurance and I live an hour away!! ''I'm sorry sir. We're terribly unable to help you.'' I called Jerry back at GP to tell him my demise but the dealership was closed for the evening. I guess Jerry checks his messages regularly because he called me 10 minutes later. Said he has an insurance broker friend Dean at Durham Insurance, that could help me out. Dean called me 10 minutes later and told me what documents he needed. I faxed them to him that night. The next day when I picked up the bike, Dean met me at the dealership with my insurance slips. Wow! Also, there was a Ducati promotion on with $1200 worth of Ducati accessories with a bike purchase. The sales staff were all over me, helping me pick out helmets, jackets etc. Jerry went over the bike with me in great detail and had his techs set the sag. What a great experience from GP and Dean! :)

Great to hear that it all worked out!! I have bought several bikes from Jerry .. he is fair , honest and is always looking to help his fellow man ...
Ken the head technician is a great guy and expert of these bikes... your'e in good hands... might I suggest you also look into allstate insurance. I have my car, house and 1198S with them and now my 1199 tricolore..

Am I the only person who actually likes the way the base wheels look?

I like the base wheels also:p

Cmon keep it going gents (and there needs to be a lady too!) Say what you're thankful for.

BTW Thamer I dont do ANY monetary biz in the open forums (Rims) and I think Id be too high on cost anyway since Im hesitant to sell em. :)

Merry Christmas to everyone!

I've enjoyed discussing many topics with all of you, it's been a good year on the Pani.

For those of you who ride on the road, I hope to ride with you one day.

For those of you who ride on the track, I hope to beat you one day. :D

Good luck in the new year!

Well then, in the spirit of things....

I'm glad that I ignored that small voice of common sense in my head last Feb and talked myself into trading my (much beloved) '97 748 for my 2012 base Panigale.

Mainly because I like the wheels. :)

No prob on the rims. I love them, but the money for them is excessive.

Christmas thanks for a woman?.....Hmm.

Well this is my Pani story. I went to Rockwell cycles to pick up a Ducati shirt. When you first walk in right at the door is a shiny R model. Left 20 mims later lamenting I didn't try to buy the bike.

Went home and spoke to my wife about going to the Ducati dealer and seeing this bike. I told her I really wanted this bike, but it would be smart to sell the RC8R I have first.

The next day she said I should get it and just keep the RC8R. And that's why I married her!

There is a panigale bike cover and a pair of Ducati corse '14 gloves under my tree as we speak...( couldn't help but find out, she used a joint credit card).

Merry Christmas to all.

P.S. She's hot too..lol.

I love the base wheels too. Definitely over the S.

But I would DEFINITELY love to get hold of those bad assssss SL wheels. That's about all that I'd replace my base wheels with.

I too have been very fortunate with my wife & my senseless bike hobby. She's never been a c[]nt about my bikes. So I've never pushed it past sensible. (As sensible as any of these rockets are... ) :)

I like the look of the base wheels more than the S.
