I am a new & proud owner of a Panigale 1199 S. I was 18 when I first picked it up from the dealer back on April 28. (No my parents aren't rich and did not buy me this, strictly out of own pocket). I'm 19 now & love this bike, I have always been a huge fan of Ducati. I look forward to hitting more roads and canyons on this beast of a bike.

I live in Southern California, anyone have any thoughts or ideas of good places to ride? Also looking to do a track day for the first time, any tips before I hit the track and/or precautions I should take?

There is another thread on this and Im just warning you. Prepare to get flamed. Either way I think you do hold the tittle now. Congrats on your bike and be careful. A lot of youngsters in here with these monstrous bikes.

Good on you man, but a heads up - the last kid that posted something similar got sleighed, so I had to laugh at your post.

As far as track work goes, ride at your own pace, take advantage of every lesson offered and don't try to be a hero. I'm sure you'll love it!

Good luck and safe travels

So I'm finding out, no worries tho.
& well thanks for the advice

Good for you man. I like seeing young people work hard for their money. Don't let anyone try to hold you down and tell you what you can or can't do. My philosophy is if you want something really bad then you will have to work really hard for it. I was 19 when I bought a new 7 series bimmer and got looks from people when they realized how young I was although I acted much more mature for my age. I realized that these people werent mad at me but at themselves for not accomplishing what others are accomplishing. This only made me work harder in my career and I said to myself I never want to be like these old angry people. However you'll have to learn how to save and invest your money. At your age I would invest in growth stocks. I work at an investment banking firm now so if you want any tips on saving and investing (free of charge) shoot me a pm. Congrats on the bike man. Enjoy it and be safe out there.

Congratulations on your Pani and welcome to the forum, glad to see young people that work hard and like to have toys.
A track day is a great idea whether or not this is your first bike or not, It will give you the opportunity to learn not only about your machine but also about yourself.
Take your time and you'll be fine:)

Congrats man on the bike. As someone has already said be careful out there with all these haters on the forum. I posted the youngest thread before and the things people have to say is outrageous. I had people discriminating me because of my age, calling me a drug dealer, I cant ride, and etc. It was a good laugh though. I hope you enjoy the awesome bike you have. Good Luck

Are you on the ducati community by any chance? I think I meet you there. My username is Lucas Ducati on there.

Wow, Pani @ 18. F#ck man, good for you. Be careful. I'm hoping you have some experience riding that's a serious bike.

oh, and I think by mandate, pretty much EVERY road in Cali is sweet bike riding. Fracking shangri-la of biking. :)

Good for you man and I think it's clear that you came at this differently than the first thread...which is why you're not getting flamed. I will say though that if/when you do get some criticism for saying "you're the youngest panigale owner" it's because it's irrelevant really. We're all on this forum because we like the brand, love riding, and we love the bike because it's the common thread that created this forum. So when someone comes in with a thread titled in a way that appears to be fishing for pats on the back for themselves above others, it becomes counter to what this community is about. I don't think that was your intent so....

With regards to tracking the bike, try the suspension set at the stock F setting if you haven't changed it to P yet. The Supercorsa SP's are actually a great tire for a beginner - they heat up fast and are grippy, but they wear very fast and make sure you keep an eye out for treadwear issues related to suspension set up. If you're not experienced in setting sag, suspension, etc. then make sure you have the trackside vendor help you out. It's well worth the money. Keep it in Sport mode until you get used to it but that bike was meant to be ridden in Race mode and I feel the throttle response is smoother and more predictable in Race which means smoother and more predictable on the track.

Ride safe and have fun.

Yes I am also on Ducati Community, I do recognize you from there. Hows it going?

Am doing good. Been real busy with school and I haven't been riding much, plus the weather hasn't been the best either. How is the bike treating you? Am also planning on tracking mine hopefully on September 1st i will be at the track. I am still waiting to buy race bodywork before hand.

Well I would hope that by now those people that "flamed" me would have moved on and realized that this isn't a bike that is limited by your pay check, age, nor your background. Thats why I would hope nobody would say anything anymore. There are lots of people on here that don't know what they are talking about. I posted the same post here and on ducati community and it was interesting how the responses differed so much. On here everybody basically tried to make me feel bad versus there where everyone greeted me with welcomes, good lucks, and congrats. It's really sad how people "judge a book by its cover" and try to make themselves feel superior. I thought this forum was a community for 1199 owners and enthusiast, but i was proven wrong. I guess thats why they call this a forum and not a community.

Tricolour I agree with you. Nice post on the track day tips. Have you taken your bike to the track yet? Well from experience driving the back on twisty roads around here the supercorsa are by far the best tires I have ever used, those tires stuck like superglue. I had my suspension tuned after the first service and it definitely made a difference. Only downside is that there are only 15 clicks of rebound on the base model front forks (if am correct).

Yeah I see what you mean & well yeah maybe I chose the wrong title, but definitely not my intention. I'm just a Ducati fan/owner, giving a brief intro to myself and trying to get some feedback in regards to advice tips and such. Yeah if anyone wants to flame me at this point...oh well. Thanks for the info tho very helpful, I've been getting advice from people I know and this will definitely help towards me mastering this bike and being able to ride it to its full potential.
