Your opinion: To buy or to wait

Have you read the death notices?? Hundreds of people die everyday in my city all of them have waited trying to save money for tomorrow that never came for them.

My 2012 was uber reliable. I wouldn't skip the first model year because of it.

With that said, even if Ducati announced one tomorrow, it'd still be six or so months before a replacement model is available.

Best bet would be to buy a used one, enjoy the hell out of it, then sell at only a small loss next year (or the year after). Hard to imagine a bike even better than an 1199/1299, too, but can't wait to see what's behind the curtain.

Second generation Audi Ducati.. The difference at Lamborghini by the second generation was pretty shocking. I am curious what Ducati will bring.

Thanks again guys... lots of great thoughts to consider.
I finally made a decision and this AM decided to go for the 2016 1299s with some basic accessory upgrades. I will pick it up next Saturday after I return from business trip.

I fell in love once I test rode the bike, and the fact that the bike's design has matured / optimized with all the bugs sorted out is a big plus. I actually think when the 2017 comes out, the demand for 2015-2016 model will go up, since 2017 with Euro 4 would most likely have the the dual exhaust sticking out (and I heard it will be quieter than 2016). Honestly, I dont care for more power even if 2017 has 300hp ;)... this one has plenty for me to chew on.

Thanks again, and looking forward to be asking you all kinds of rookie questions in the coming months.

Good for you. Ride the .... out of it and don't look back :D

Based on some recent posts by other riders... This is debatable.

But, I personally think you have made a good choice.

I have had nothing but good luck with my 14 1199. I bought it just as the 15 1299s were coming in. Got a hell of a discount since the dealer was trying to make room for his new 1299 models.

Enjoy it!

if you wait you never get . there will always be something better. should i wait for the new iphone ok i wait then the new one comes out guess what next year a new one will be out. just get it now.

I think you made a wise choice getting a sorted out bike and who knows exactly if those euro 4 bikes can even look so pretty.
Also in the future you'll be able to get the Evo updates flashed to your new bike.
Congrats!!!

The only reason to wait is getting more money; otherwise it's always "what else can I get" no matter how much nice hardware you've already got when looking out in the garage!

Totally agree with everything he says...

That said, I haven't gotten the 1299 because frankly, I never had any issues with my 1199. But I did buy a Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory and that bike rides very nicely.

I think I'll wait to see if anything exciting comes out in EICMA as I wanted to love the M1200R but couldn't pull the trigger on that. I do like the Black one though.
