My 1299 was recalled for a engine breather fix, problem under hard use the oil vapour would come up and out of the air box pipe so I read, I decided change my breather on my 1199 as on a track the breather pipe leaked and dumped oil onto the left exhaust then onto the tyre because it sucked up the vapour under hard riding then as it goes up through the breather pipe would cool and oil would then drop back down the pipe on run down because the pipe was poor quality and not a good seal going into the crankcase connection. So recalled were SL1199, all 1299s, but not the 1199s and base. it cost €28 for the kit, and the link above will show how to fit the kit, anyone needs help drop me a line, i took photos if you need. So worth to check the left side pipe going into the crankcase to see if its damp, the kit is a one way valve so under throttle conditions it seals the crankcase from the air-box and idle is open to let out the blow-by. Pictures are old version cone pipe and new fitted valve.2409EB6B-C3B4-478B-8527-58D5ABCDDB80.jpeg

I'm going to do this as well. I don't know if it is because I am keeping the rpm's high or from doing wheelies but I am getting oil in the airbox and draining out of the duck bill valve on the bottom of the bike. Looks fairly straight forward other than the issue of limited space.

Just take time, drain coolant, take of regulator, unbolt left plastic electrics panel and pull away, disconnect tank connector, lift tank and remove hoses and there is room.

Interresting, I done my own repair of my breather pipe but this looks so much better, and it does fit on my base 1199 2012 ?

Yes, mine is a base 2012. I repaired mine first but after seeing my SL kitted I decide to do it, btw I asked why it hadnt been recalled but only the 1199 SL was recalled the rest was tough ....!

Ducati says my 14R didn’t get that recall either. Wtf. This forum is pissing me off lol. First the plastic water pump gear$ now this. At least this was only 40 bucks. I had already deleted the smog canister thing that’s mentioned causing stalling starting problems on here. What other weak links does the 14R have???

Someone tried to tell me the 13 n 14’s had cyl liners (sleeves) that distorted severely when hot and I needed to swap my engine for a 15 or newer or I would blow it up

2014 1199R beaten on for 7500 miles

This bike could definitely land me in jail...

Doubt it would be cuz it’s missing a canister tho : )

What else is gonna break tho? Besides the stops on the lower tree? Haha Kevin

Just go see how many bikes are stacked up at the service shops its a absolute horror show!!!

I've done 10000km on mine this year with the only reliability issues being a busted clutch slave and an oil leak from the vertical cylinder cam cover. Both were very quick fixes.

I don't think they're really unreliable

Just did the breather and what a PITA! It can be done without taking the tank off, but a second set of hands would have made it a little easier. I can see why the coolant hose was removed as it would give much easier access. I only removed the LH side fairing and then Hung the electrical panel, removing the vertical MAP hose from the head and the horizontal from the sensor. Pushing the new assembly in from above the coolant hoses then positioning from the top and bottom at the same time worked, but pushing the new housing into the cut hose was probably the hardest part with quite a few attempts. Expect a few scrapes and scratches getting it in......

Yeah, no need to remove tank. I also removed the coolant hose. Give better access. I lubed the cut tube and outside of blow by valve with rim grease. That really made it slide on much easier for me. I haven't seen any oil on the ground after this recall part installed.

If anyone needs one of these upgrade kits I put one in the classified’s

2012 Base 1199 here...while riding noticed hesitation at WOT and some missfire. Slowed down and saw oil spraying from left side. Got home and pulled tank looks like airbox filled with oil and was seeping down and out and then spraying along left side of bike. Quick search showed me this thread and I'm pretty sure my breaker oneway check valve has failed allowing oil to suck into airbox...

Was hoping yall could help me identify what part i need. The TSB above shows model 2014++ not my '12 base.

thanks anyone who can help out!

ok just saw this, part ordered...wish me luck yall!

2016. But as I later found out, the update had already been done. So turns out I did not need to buy one. Oh well.

UPDATE: breather check valve did not solve my issue. still getting a lot of oil in airbox, since its not coming from crank case at the bottom, has to be from the vent tube from the vertical piston...i'm thinking rings??

FML...bike goes to shop on Feb 8th for full desmo and oil in airbox troubleshooting.
