Total newb and very first Ducati owner...so...after your mocking sessions, here's a legitimate question/concern::confused:
Bought the bike used, rode it home. The dash looked fine when it started at the seller's house and all the way to my house. Connected the bike to a battery tender and charged it for 24 hours. Now, when I turn the ignition on the dash looks fine, all the digits are fully shown. When the bike turns on and while idling, the dash is missing parts of the digits. When I rev it it gets a bit brighter and bolder but during idling it looks super weak and numbers are deformed. Here's a picture and a short clip of me revving it up.

Battery is on 12% which in my book is super low so a new battery has been ordered but did I just get myself into a world of trouble by picking up a Hyper with a bad dash, electrical problems? Can anyone tell me what is the worst I can expect and what is the best case scenario, outside of the battery being low? I'm really trying to avoid the trip to the Duc shop and leaving my paycheck there for a diagnostic. Hoping for some home remedies before I dip into my son's college fund for the repair(s). Ughh....I knew I should have just stayed with Jap bikes :(

Any help is greatly appreciated.

it sound like a new dash, there is a guy in seatler Wa that can fix those dash go to multystrada.net and ask there, the old MTS have the same problem.
also check you negative to ground, a faulty ground will do this to you.

Thanks for the post. I had ordered a new battery after I posted here. When the new battery came in, dropped it in without charging it fully, since the box said it didn't need charging. Fired her up and nothing. Same weird dash problem. It would go brighter and bolder when revving up. My guess was a weak battery since when left on ignition all the numbers display just fine. So put the bike back on battery tender and pretended I don't own a bike. Was pretty discouraged and upset...so when I saw a complete gauge cluster, key, ignition and tank cover set on ebay for $590, I was like "what the hell, let me just cut my losses and get a new set". Paid for it and the set is on its way. Last weekend, after 5 days of charging the battery on tender I fired her up just for the hell of it....and VOILA!!!!! The dash is displaying everything correctly. You have no idea how happy I was.

So now I have an extra set of Hypermotard ignition, key, gauge cluster, tank cover set I need to sell :):D

I will check your battery cable, ground and the plug to the dash it look like something is loose. just to make sure you don't want to be riding with a loose connection it created heat and you cable can melt "no bueno"
