That all sounds accurate. Like I said if you are sourcing new parts then you may want to have the DDA sync the BBS and the ECU for VIN unless you don't care about that otherwise, you are good to go. On the key thing, the all ignitions that I have used had ECUs with them so I don't have any experience swapping ECUs and ignition modules where the ECU or ignition module is new. If you have an ECU and a matched ignition module, you can swap the dash and BBS and ABS (all CAN linked devices) without issue as long as the parts are compatible. I believe the ignition module is tied to the ECU via programming not 100% on this. I also know that both the ECU and the BBS contain VIN info and that Ducati via I believe the DDS platform can program a VIN into either and sync both.

Update:

After Many mistakes and better research with what I want to accomplish She fired up tonight .

I ended up buying a 1199S dash and S BBS so I decided to get an 1199 S harness too. I also had to get an 1199 ABS module.
I used my 899 Key and ignition - S dash - S BBS - 1199 Base ECU with no issues . I do have a DES light due to not having the suspension yet. Bike starts Idles and revs no issues however My engine light is on. I don't know if the Dash needs to be reset from my previous Errors .
I will post up some pictures of my finished bike hopefully this weekend .

you will need to put resistors across the suspension plugs. There are a few mobs which do kits for this.

My build is finally complete with no more engine light after installing ohlins rear shock and front.

Going from an 899 to 1199 is quit a significant difference In power . I love riding my Duc more now especially after my build
It's been a fantastic experience and learning journey.

Tomorrow I hope to get my brentuning loaded up , I ended up removing my Rapidbike . I also need to figure out suspension settings for my weight.
