Does anyone have the Ducati tank and tail bags?
I'd love to see some pictures of the luggage on the bike and get a user's review of them.
I've taken a three-day 1200-mile tour on my bike using a Kriega pack, and although it worked, riding with a pack is less than ideal. The capacity of the tank and tail bags would appear to be all that I would need for such multi-day trips. (I pack light.)
Thank you in advance ladies and gents. :)

I looked at it but it seemed overpriced to me. One of my gripes with the bike was the rear seat, you can pull it off with your hand, forget about attaching anything to it.

I went for a Kriega US20 on the rear (mounted crossways) and a US10 on the front with the tank attachment. To attach the US20 to the rear I dismantled the tail to remove the strap and use the bolts there as mounting points for the Kriega straps, as well as the 2 top bolts on the tail which you can attach the US20 to.

Tank bag works decently. Very secure. Tank needs to be protected from rubbing from it. I'm using the Tankslapper tank kit with some modifications to protect the tank. I'm short. It is a bit tall, but serves to support my torso and make it easier to keep pressure off my wrists. My GPS fits in top pocket and can be operated through the clear plastic. It leaves the GPS a bit too close and the angle it is at, isn't best for viewing while riding. Pretty easy access to the gas cap for fill ups.

I don't use tail bags, as they make it too difficult for me to mount and dismount. I made a set of standoffs which can be quickly attached and detached when the passenger pegs are mounted. A FastRack on the passenger seat completes the setup for saddlebags which attach with a single bungee cord for each bag. No need to tape any of the body work at all to protect it from the bags, and it has proven stable for triple digit speeds.

Because its more strain on your arms and just takes more out of you instead of letting the bike do the work and letting you move more freely on the bike.. I just think that's what he means...?

When you sit up at stop lights, etc, the bottom of the pack rubs on the tail of the bike, causing scratches. I only have this issue on the 1199, because of how steeply the tail section rises. Also, the pack restricts air circulation, which is seriously uncomfortable upwards of 80 degrees F.

Thanks; I'll look at this option. I have a Kriega US20, but did not think about the solution you came up with.

I've got the tank bag. Even tho I'm tall and long armed it seems too tall for me I suppose on trips I'll use my cortech tailbag and a small back pack to carry the overflow.

It's quite well made tho.

As to tank protection. I've got a famsa bag for my sf, it has NO soft material between tank and bag. I bought some synthetic sheepskin (this is what rka tank bags use) and attached to the bottom of the bag, works beautifully

Good idea. I want to remove the strap as I'm not planning on carrying passengers. The Kriega US20 looks like a good option. I think the Ducati tank bag would be too tall for me (5' 7").

Buy a GoldWing and put some nitrous on it. Just kidding , I like the look of the tank bags cover piece. Kinda looks like a tank bra. Bag itself is too big for my liking. I like the small ones better. For a backpack , I'd buy one of the hard shell ones made for sportbikes , where you unzip to open from the backside. I'll post a pic if I can find one.

More important than any of the responses so far, by wearing a rucksack you are a) raising the distance between your head and the floor if you come off and land on your back, real bad for the neck in an accident and b) anything hard in your pack could penetrate the body on impact or force the back to bend back in an unnatural manner.

In the UK many medics will tell you not to wear a rucksack for these reasons. I was also told not to whilst on a First Biker on Scene medical course (tells you what to do in the event of being the first person to arrive at the scene of a rider down; when to and how to remove helmets etc - highly recommended)

PS I use Kriega back packs and/or tail packs and/or tank bags and/or bumbags when having to take stuff with me.

good advice, I typically only carry my rainsuit in the pack as it's the one item that won't fit in the tailbag.

Duh, I just fiddled around with the tank bag. It's got a plastic stiffener ring you can pop out, makes it flexible and crushable. I'll try it this way think that's what I need.
