Trying not to descend to the level of George and others....

I was in Dianese full leather gear (Alien pants) and Sidi boots.

I got 2nd degree burns on the back of my R thigh (blisters)...and continued my 5 day tour for another 3 days.

I am not a ..... and I don't wear a dress.

I love my Tri and ride it hard and would never trade it for anything.

If you can't handle someone pointing out a shortcoming of the bike, perhaps it's you that should ditch the dress? (almost made it....)

HE gets it!!!
:D

Problem is that the Panigale is the first Ducati that is beloved by almost every biker.
Result is a loooot of people who have never riden a Ducati before now jump on the bandwagon and get their balls burnt.
Yes, this is no comfortable japanese, this is an italian racemonster, live with it or swap back to that boring japanese !
Back in those days with my 999s i had to stand next to the bike when waiting for trafficlights, sitting on the sadle while waiting was a no go, but did i cry ?
No !! Because when it rolls it's a beast and that's all where Ducati is about !

I agree with Steve B, this is not a racebike it is a streetbike. Ducati's have always had issues with heat, and yes the 1199 gives off less heat than my 1198 did so they have made an improvement. However, this is the first superbike that Ducati have built with the specific intention of being "better" (whatever that means, we all have different definitions) than the Japanese and recent European competition. Hence the "checkmate" tagline and such. But as far as the issue of how much heat this bike radiates, it clearly is NOT better than the competition. That is a fact and cannot be disputed. Yes I will still buy one over a ZX-10R or S1000RR because I love it , and love that intangible Ducati/Italian quirkiness/sexiness that they do so well. But I wont make excuses for it, they could have done some more work on this issue, and other issues on the 1199. I still would rather have had them release the 1199 as a 2013 model and take the extra time to really make it hospitable for street use. If that had happened, then I dont think I would have anything to complain about on the 1199.

This is my first Duc and I'm not bitching. I subscribe to caveat emptor.

Don't fool yourself, of course you would. This bike was years in the making from design to production.

The heat isn't bad. I'm so tired of people complaining about it. I live in Florida its 90+ out everyday. I've ridden in shorts a couple of times and had no heat issues. Granted in shorts it was way worse than in jeans or when I'm in my riding leathers or over pants. Oh and this is my first Duc been a suzuki guy for all my riding life. I had more issues with the horrible seat compared than the heat

Hi guys, it is my first post here, dont kill me if you can..

I will actually get my 1199 soon, from Singapore, and in Singapore the heat is terrible.. and its humid, wet heat that goes 30-35c.

I do know what I am buying into, I have rode the RSV4, S1000RR, R1 2012.. and found the heat manageable. I've been hearing that the 1199 will trump all these others, but hey, its a ducati so all heat should be tolerated and in fact, loved. (its my first ducati too so dont hate me). I will be using it for daily riding. I will let you guys know if my nuts are burnt.

But.. to make this thread a little more constructive and save me balls, has anyone actually eliiminated this heat issue? I have seen suggestions like changing to engine ice, changing to comfort seat, wrap insulation around seat.. under seat.. has anyone actually tried with some real world results though? It will be interesting.

Apologies for not searching the forum thoroughly if the answer was already found. Not a very computer-savvy person here.
