Hi everyone, thanks for letting me join the panagale forum ,
I have an 1199 2012 with just 3800 miles on the clock ,
I took it out for its first ride this season and was about 30 miles into the ride when I noticed the high temp light came on shortly followed by the oil light . As I swiftly started to slow down the engine rattle got louder .
Let it cool down and checked oil which was full but then on checking the water it had oil in it .
Can anyone tell me what has happened and where would be the best place to take it , I am in Kent in the south east .
Thanks in advance
Keith

Sorry to hear this...
Try BSD Performance in Peterborough, speak to Mark Brewin he will offer advice and has a fantastic business building engines, dyno tuning etc.
He also has extensive Ducati experience[emoji106]

Oil is being pressured into the cooling system, prob head gasket, cracked head or oil cooler, but because the oil light come on the oil pressure dropped, so at a minimum the engine will need a strip to find out the results if you want faith in it again.

as Halo suggests, the Heat exchange fitted to the right side of the engine has a rubber gasket that separates the Oil and coolant flow in and out of the the heat exchanger block.

i removed mine on a 2012 1199s, and the seal was fully flattened, and needed replacement. could be a cheap fix to consider first.

Maybe so, but if the oil light came on you need strip and check the bearings or that could misbehave at right at the wrong time, its not a car you cant half ... it.

a good point buddy,

my first port of call would be still this seal as you still need to ascertain the cause of the failure, rather then blindly stripping the motor

does the bike still run with any noise etc?

and there is always the coolant pump issue to have a look at as well..

my plan would be drop oil, check for particulate and evidence of internal failure, and also the drop the coolant, and then the heat exchanger seal.

you will have a better picture by this point i would think..

Haven't had it happen but how would you go cleaning the oil out of the cooling system.
