Has anyone had their 1199 R order confirmed by their Ducati dealer via the Ducati NA Priority Reservation System?????

I have heard that the reservation system has not been put in place yet by North America.

George Villar

Hey George i don't think it's a concern. At the price i think Ducati intends to move more volume. There will be plenty around

We as dealers are led to believe that the 1199R will not be numbered.
We are yet to have that confirmed.
Deliveries to the UK are to begin in March :)

-- personally, i think they will make as many as they can sell...numbered or not - i did hear however, that dealers will get allocated a few units only - but i believe they will send and reallocate as needed based on customer demand

yes so first deliveries in march followed by May.

From what i hear getting one will not be a problem and some dealers has some spots from the first allocation unsold.

THe other factor that people have mentioned is they are not being made in limited numbers so Ducati will be pumping them out till demand dries up.

Yes, heard same news here in bay area.

Mayby not directly related to this thread, but could have influence on when and how many Rs are built. FIM released an update of their 2013 homologation list today, and of course the 1199R is the only Panigale on the Superbike list. The article describes the required number of units that need to be built and when they need to be built by:

Most interesting to me is that Ducati has until Dec 31st 2014 to make the 3000 required bikes, but only 1000 of those need to be built this year.

Chris.

Ducati has a new system now, there's not the old "priority reservation" system any longer but rather a "pre-sold unit" designation that we can place on any incoming ordered bike, specifying that the bike is pre-sold and requesting priority delivery of it. It's a very nice system, and we can use it for any incoming unit, not just the limited-edition (special) bikes. My understanding on the 1199R's was that Ducati was going to build as many as we dealers ordered, and not any extras.

So what has the pre-ordering been like out there? Same or higher than Base,S or Tri?

Do you as a dealer think it's worth grabbing one?

hi...

i ordered my new 1199R before January and was promised to have one on February.
then i got a phone call saying that the production line delayed deliveries to March without specific date.
This is not fair!
specially to a returning (loyal) customers.
I had my NEW 848EVO 2yr ago, then 1199Tricolor last yr. and now the 1199R.
Is it only in Israel happens to be like it?
BTW, our dealer said to me it is probably due to new computer system Ducati got.

Ducati, cant be that a customer cant get what he ordered and prepaid upfront and same time you deliver 1199R to internal usage...this is not fair and unprofessional.

My local Chicago area dealer is saying if I plunk down a $1K (non-refundable) deposit he can put me on the "R" list. I would be #3 on list (as of 2-16-13). This would get me a bike end of March or early April. Otherwise I'd wait until late April early May with no deposit. I'll wait. There will always be bikes to buy somewhere. Or I may say screw it and get a '13 RSV4... Haha

There are only 200-300 coming to the US. It's still a numbered bike, right?

George Villar

I have never seen anything in any press about this being a numbered bike. I would have thought they would have showed a pic of the numbering plate and where it was located if that were the case. I just re read you post George and perhaps you mean that the bike may be in limited numbers. It would be nice if it had a little number plaque.

Not that I can afford to buy one. Wish I could. Just have to be happy with my faithful old "S"

This R is all about track performance, not bling, so if you're getting it for the track I'd say yes. All but one of our R's is already pre-sold so they're going quick.

the delivery schedule was always March for first deliveries followed by a second batch in May. It is not a ducati issue but your dealer giving you misinformation.

Jarel do you really think this R model is all about track performance, i would think that a base model would be a better place to start for a track bike and to follow the upgrades you did to your base track bike rather then choose something with electronic suspension.

I think this particular R model is all about bling and less about being a track focus bike which is a shame as it breaks the ethos of prior R models.

How far was the delivery date of your Tri behind the promised date? Use the same multiplier :D

Yes, the adjustable swingarm pivot, Ti rods, and 500 rpm higher rev limit are all for the track/racing, no value at all for the street. It's what they needed for SBK homologation, there was no consideration for making it a more attractive street "bling" collector bike as some of the prior R models were with carbon bodywork, fancy paint schemes (aka. Bayliss 1198R), etc.
